Inflation is caused by the printing of money and will cause goods prices to go up like stock, property and gold prices to go up. People can google about value investing and i find it to make the most sense for me
@kenneth.lim33902 жыл бұрын
Other than increasing money supply, inflation can also be a result of exchange rate changes (eg. If Singapore dollar depreciates, all our imports will become more expensive and this will impact both products and raw materials), wage increases (eg. If a new law raises minimum wage, people will have more money which means they will spend more, but at the same time companies will be paying more in operating cost so they will either charge more or reduce supply. Ultimately, will lead to a shortage or cost-push inflation), or even just people's expectations of inflation (because if enough people believe price is gonna rise in future, they will buy now to get at cheaper price but this ultimately becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy).

inflation doesn't magically happen without someone increasing prices ya.. when electricity tariffs go up it is indeed the authorities approving a price increase. inflation or the CPI tracks the change in prices over time and prices change because people change them

Thank you, I am just about to make my first index fund purchase via vanguard. I intend to invest long term and just leave the funds ‘locked away’ for at least 5 years forgetting about it. I am just getting slightly stuck on how I balance my percentage portfolio between equity vs bonds. Low risk is good for me. Any tips or related videos you can recommend??

Now that the fed is raising interest and easing QE, will the market experience the correction all the way back down?

If you don't borrow, you won't lose more than what u invested
@dalabomba30862 жыл бұрын
@@KelvinLearnsInvesting OK TY!!!!
@kenneth.lim33902 жыл бұрын
@@dalabomba3086 Borrowing can be explicit or implicit. If you borrow personal loans, use credit card or borrow from people to invest, you will be in debt if the investment fail. There are assets that are leveraged by nature (for eg. Forex, CFDs, options, etc) so implicitly you may be borrowing but generally, when you are about to lose more than 100% of your investment, you will get a margin call for those so it's quite rare to go into debt unless you have a lack of self-control which tends to happen when people try to desperately to recoup losses by going into a much bigger trade than they can afford.
