I have a couple echo show 8s and I think they are the perfect size. I love big screens don’t get me wrong but I think this size eco is pointless and kinda stupid and not coming with a stand is so ridiculous and it’s even more ridiculous that the stand is $100 that really ridiculous

Me personally, when it comes to things like this I don't see it being too big, especially coming with a wall mount. I'm thrilled that Amazon has stepped their game up on this 21 inch unit, because this gives for a bigger and better viewing experience. I am also happy to hear that this model is heavy, which of course makes sense, because the bigger something is the more weight it's going to pick up regardless. Besides, when a product such as this packs weight like this, it tells me that the build quality is there. Like the old saying goes, there's different strokes for different folks. Besides, those not into the bigger ones, Amazon did of course build the 15 inch model and smaller for you. I already have the perfect spot for this one on this divider wall above my corner cabinet where my 15 inch model use to be. Good job Amazon. At this pricing range though, Amazon should have came in with boots on and nailed this 21 inch model with at least 4K UHD video and Doby Atmos, Maybe even got with Bose for the sound system, (this part doesn't matter too much to me because I'll be using my Bose soundbar anyway). And of course this is all just my own personal opinion.

Totally agree! I am excited to find a wall mounted device for the perfect wall in my kitchen. While the kiddos eat or I cook, I can enjoy watching shows, check the family calendar, and so much more. I also like the bigger screen and the ability of sharing pictures as I am not a fan of hanging picture frames on my beautiful and clean walls lol

@ You can’t really due to the weird wall setup we have, however you can see it from most important places. Since the kitchen is our homes “hub” having calendars and sticky notes etc is exactly what we need it for.

We have a Show 15 mounted on our bedroom wall (glad the camera has a shutter!). It replaced a Show 8 and a TV that were taking up too much space on my dresser. We love it! In the morning it wakes us up and we can check our commute, the weather, the security cameras, and the news before we even get out of bed. We rarely watch TV in bed, but when we do the Show 15 is sufficient. In many ways the 15 is better than we had expected. The Show 21 would serve that role even better! But we got the Show 15 for $150 from Woot. I didn’t pay full price for it. Would I pay $400 for a 21? Nope. But for $200 on Prime Day? Probably. Would I put either the 15 or the 21 in my kitchen? No. It wouldn’t fit anywhere in my kitchen, and the Show 5 I have in there works ok. I find the 21 to be interesting, but not compelling. The 15 works well enough for our needs. BTW, Fire TV on an Echo Show 15 is great! One of its best features!

You don't have to use the Silk browser to get to KZbin. The Fire TV feature has it and you should be able to open KZbin videos by voice too. I think this would be great for the kitchen so that I can keep watching tv while cooking or following a recipe.

Yeah for sure. I think 21 inches is too close to a small tv. So it will become hard for people to justify $400 for a tiny tv. But they do have a 15 inch that I'll review next.

I have both the 15 and 21. I find the 21 size to be unnecessary and a bit obnoxious compared to the 15. The 15 can be put on kitchen countertops, hung under cabinets etc. and it just works. The 21 only will look acceptable wall mounted, it will look massive and awkward on countertops.

I am looking for something to get besides the LG Stanbyme since that one is almost $800 on sale regularly almost $1000 regular price. I know it won’t be the same as the LG but I’m not looking to keep it in the kitchen solely. I want to get the stand to use in the bathroom and kitchen. Would it be a good option? Hopefully I explained good enough what I want to use it for

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I understand what you want. So you'll buy the standbyme "stand" and mount this on it? The standbyme by LG has a built-in battery, giving it 3 hours of viewing time. The Echo Show 21 doesn't have a battery. It has to be plugged in to get power and you'll need to see if the standing stand is compatible with the Show 21.

Someone needs to do a POE smarthome pad with Matter that charges through a magnet. IE the magnet is powered with POE. Easily hide the cable in the wall. Ubiquiti has something like that but it needs to be one of the major players.

I literally was saying a similar thing in my Echo Show 15 review. But my thought was home being built with walls that have wireless charging and a way to magnetize devices to them without any damage. Then we could literally just slap a Echo show on the wall in seconds.

Yes most definitely but it's quite heavy so it would need to be a strong easel. I'll look into that though because I don't want to buy a $100 stand lol

I am thinking about upgrading to the 21. I have the 1st gen 15. It will go on the same wall that my 15 currently occupies. I am sure you will be able to buy 3rd party stands eventually. KZbin is available. Just say Alexa open KZbin.

Funny you said you don’t use it as a fire tv. Thats the only thing i do with my Echo Show 15 using the remote. So it’s more like a Smart TV fitting well in the kitchen, well, with some Echo skills of course.

@@AtHomewithLucas Well there is an app in Fire tv that will allow you to open a specific app of your choice using your voice. You just have to say "Alexa, open App Opener." I use it with my Fire TV cube hooked up to my TV. Alexa will turn on the TV and then open the app. I have mine set to open one of my IPTV services. So It's like basically using your voice to start live TV.

Some can be resized, but yeah, they are a bit small. Good for viewing close up, not from a distance, really. They will probably fix this with an update soon. As this is the bigger echo yet. I bought a Fire Omni tv last year, and since then, they fully fixed all the bugs, making it the best.

This is the same exact issue I ran into. I have a kitchen very similar to this one and I have no where to put it. There are a few places it could possibly go but there is no power. I went to order a stand but at the time of this comment it’s $99 and will take 3 weeks to get it.

Yeah, it's definitely strange they don't provide like a "feet" stand like tvs. I think that would cause people to keep it and not just return it.

The only thing that would concern me would be the ads. Amazon has been pumping ads into all the show devices as part of the "screen saver". Very unwelcome and very unfortunate, as there is no way to turn the ads off. Personally, I'm not in the market for a billboard to pump ads at me all day long, and I certainly wouldn't pay for it. I've tossed all my shows in the garbage, except for the old Echo Dot (the old model, not the new model). Due to the shape of the screen (and the fact that they've discontinued updating it) it doesn't display the advertisements like the new Echo Shows started doing -- so that's the only one I'm keeping around. What a shame.

I own an echo show 15, but unfortunately, Amazon has removed the sideload option, rendering it essentially an ad display device. Definitely not worth buying the 21 show

And an addition, KZbin and everything else is available in FireTV mode. Then you get rid of the awful Echo interface and just use it as you usually do on a fire TV stick for example. I’m sure you missed the main advantage of that device not using it as a fire tv man.

Bro I can buy a $10 firestick and a $50 21 inch tv and mount it in my kitchen to get fire tv. The Alexa and echo skills are why I own echos lol 🤷‍♂️🤣

⁠@@AtHomewithLucasDifferent use cases of course. I don't have space for a big screen to do that in my kitchen. So the echo show 15 or maybe also the 21 is a good compromise to do that. And back then the echo show 15 was the cheapest possibility to use a full fire TV in the kitchen, especially when there's not too much space for huge screens, like you showed as well.
