I found time! I made time! I was suffering from severe anxiety and depression...I'd shop for things I didnt need..then felt guilty as I could not return them because I already lost or threw out the reciept...but one day...It clicked! I started decluttering to the max...a year later and im almost to my point of feeling complete. Depression...GONE! Anxiety...BETTER! My minimizing journey and you along with others have saved my life! My sanity!

It’s crazy how that actually works! To clear things out. I remember with my first baby I was living with my mom and the baby came early, so I had him sleep in a bassinet stroller in my room. And I was getting so overwhelmed in keeping everything decent looking in that tiny room. I took the stroller out and all of a sudden is like I could BREATHE. It was giving me anxiety to have it crowded in there, without even realizing it

I was focusing on removing things like Marie Condo and realized that I was adding to the landfill as many many items didn’t spark joy. Guess what, all possessions don’t. I have space so I keep necessary items and use it. I wear all my clothes that I keep, use all pot and pans even if they don’t spark joy instead of buying items that do. I stopped buying, repurposed things, reused what I could as many times as I could and use all ingredients I buy, or freeze those I cannot use immediately till I can.

I always have decluttering on the back of my mind. So every time I'm sitting in a room I look around and think about the stuff. I may not pick anything up, but I make up my mind by the next time I sit by that area. Then I move the objects. I've been on the journey since March and we have cleared sooo much stuff. Not yet complete but definitely have made a noticeable change. We are loving it! I utilise a childcare day so I can do it. I remind myself that in the future I will have more spare time as less to maintain so it's worth it. Delegating is key. ❣

I like to cultivate entertainment sources (podcasts, youtube vids, etc.) that I can listen to rather than watch. So a good chunk of my "watch time" is actually providing background entertainment while my hands and eyes are busy elsewhere, cleaning, decluttering, etc. HIstory documentaries are great for this, as the visuals are often extraneous to the core content. Bonus, doing the dishes and sorting through old clothes comes with some passively acquired education. And I don't even need to set a timer for piecemeal projects, since the video length provides one.

Good and inspiring..i m a minimalist basically even before i got introduced to this word or idea..i m not a impulsive buyer ..always plan before buying..and if i like something very much in market atleast wait for some minutes and think do i really need or like it..will it serve some purpose for long time in my house or just make me busy in its maintenance..luv to spend quality time with family and likes to go to new places for vacation with family.. Whenever i get some spare time i utlilise that time in decluttering and donate things ..but still i feel and believe in a proverb from my area .extreme of anything is bad.. Some things hav emotional value..and that value can be different for different persons in family..so in absence of other family members i never decide abt their stuff or common stuff to donate..always first ask them if they are comfortable if i can donate those things..if they say no i just tell them to keep those stuff properly by themselves nd they can donate if they want later or keep those things with themselves.. And i m so thankful that no one in my family do this minimizing thing in my absence..🤔😅 When i was a child my mother donated my toys and collection of storybooks without even asking from me once i was in school that time..i still remember how bad i and my brother felt for days and months..1 or 2 books were left by mistake nd i still possess those books and shown those books to my kids also they were also happy to read books their mother used to read in her childhood

We are just beginning our journey to minimalism. Have been considering it for years but with the recent passing of my Papa it's just made it all more clear just how short, and meaningful Life really is. We did our first drop off to second hand store this past weekend. We have started turning the TV off after dinner and picking a room of the house to tackle as a family, this has meant I usually go thru things while husband plays guitar and entertains our child and says yay or nah to items as I come across them but so far it has worked for us hah I love making it a family thing and it truly is time better spent rather than sitting mindlessly infront of the TV thinking about alllll the things we have to do. Thank you for your videos. You are a huge inspiration

A. Time invested comes back plus more. B. You could spend 5-10 minutes a day on it, but do you really want to drag the project out forever? Better to set a block of time and do a room or three. Ideas: 1. You could : wake up early or stay late. 2. Cancel a one-time or a recurring appointment. 3. Postpone a hobby for a while 4. Take some hours of vacation time off work 5. Cut out a chunk of screen time 6. Get a trusted person to take your kids somewhere, one-time or trade 7. Delegate a chore or task, to spouse or child, or hire it done 8. Make it a family event to do together. You are in the driver's seat of your life. You get to choose what fits.

I highly recommend the staycation! I did this just recently and it was great. I would also recommend making a definite plan prior to the staycation. Otherwise it's very easy to do more goofing off than you should, and before you know it , your time is gone. It was a very good feeling to go back to work after the staycation, knowing that I had gotten a lot accomplished and also had time for some relaxing time that I planned ahead for. Still not completely minimized though, so now I need to carve out time at least 2-3 times per week and tackle some more stuff!

You clearly don't have a full schedule or 4 children less than 4.5 years apart or both. You definitely have to make the time to get it done! Not everyone has a 9-5 schedule or the "free time" to be able to just do whatever whenever. Not everyone does the same things. My children are homeschooled so they're not gone from the house EVER unless they go WITH me. They're with me 24/7/365, so, yes, some people need to set aside time to make it happen.

*I LOVE the FAMILY TIME tip* but I understand how it might not seem realistic for many families, especially those with preteens and teens. *BUT HERE’S THE RUB:* When our kids spend the first 12+ years of their lives hearing us grumble about the mess and the clutter, and they see us always being stressed about chores, they pick up on that negativity and internalize it. So it’s no wonder they don’t see cleanup time as fun or easy or positive. I wish I had realized this earlier in my parenting journey so that I could have modeled more positive habits for my kids. But I was immature and negative myself😕 Meh🤦♂️

I just had a thought Joshua, I like to really decorate for Christmas. I have 14 bins of Christmas decorations. Is that’s nuts? I really need to declutter those decorations. Can you help?

Maximized my time by watching this on 1.25 speed which makes it a normal talking pace (and it's not even my native language).

I'm currently struggling with this. I have 10 kids and really wish I had started on this journey before there were so many of them.

Get the kids involved! You might be surprised how quick they will want to join you. Besides, out of 10 there is likely at least 1 or 2 that are naturally minimalists. View them as an asset.

Isn't it hilarious that Ikea ads come on? They are the Kings of selling stuff to organize the clutter. 😁😂😂
