You know, struggling with addiction and depression are so hard to explain to someone else. This song does an outstanding job of expressing how it felt within my own head. Granted, its not easy to explain a lot of things until you are actually sober. Thank you for writing a song that explains what it was like for me. I hope your demons are less strong than they were when you posted this, two years ago. I know those demons all to well, myself. If you ever need someone to listen, relate or care.... I’m here. Truly. I don’t know you but I know how crippling that shit is. And I know that reaching out to people often goes against our nature and is overwhelming to even consider or entertain. Whether strangers, best friends, family members or therapists. But it’s much better than bearing all the weight and anguish on our own. It’s never a bad idea to reach out. t’s never wrong to ask for help. Xoxo. Ashley.

I love how they made the video for this song. It perfectly portrays the feeling of despair, hopelessness and sadness caused by a lack of goal or purpose in life, which thus so often leads to anxeity, depression or addiction of some sort. The sense of alienation that many of us young adults born in the 90's feel seems typical for our time too, because on the one hand we are very free to choose our own paths in life, and many we are even encouraged to do so, but on the other hand it just as easily leads to a lack of purpose instead. It's almost as if the vast amount of freedom becomes an existential burden for many young people, instead of the intended happiness or sense of self-fulfillment.
