Your typical gamer would have used the tutorial level to master the parry and the projectile deflect. Not Throthgar. He just blunders on through, tries to cheese enemies, then cries about game difficulty.

Yes, the tutorial is trying to teach new players everything in one quick go, that's why it fails every step of the way. Typically, better games introduce the mechanics as the game progresses in situations where these mechanics become necessary and relevant, they don't vomit out all the mechanics in one tutorial.

You can parry, as in dark souls. If you play on pc press "e" to parry, and then go to the monster and press "W"/ attack. Good luck, this game is fun and a good challenge.

I hated the original Slain, but when Back From Hell came out, I found it addicting, to the point I fully beat it. There are difficulty spikes here and there, as well. I beat the demo for Valfaris, the sequel to this, and that game seems to be promising, cant wait to see you RAGE when that comes out!
