@@waldokarpenkiel4242 Your drumset reminds me of early swing jazz (or tradjazz). To me, it feels unusual for a rock or r&b setting. But I like it, as well as your playing!

Waldo! Nice groove. I just started doing this song with my cover band. I'm playing the kit and singing lead ala Average White Band. It's pretty fun.

Personnally, I prefer when the drummer remains in the back, in a simple and "humble" way, the original "Sticks Hooper's way", see what I mean? Technique should only be there to express the music feeling, not to feed the ego. I've met a few such drummers at the Montreux Jazz Festival while working there. Steve Gadd and David Garibaldi among them. Real groove machines. For exemple: Dave Garibaldi (Tower or Power) doesn't like soloing... Being subtle may be nice sometimes, and fellow musicians will also appreciate it. Well, just my drumner's two cents...

Although this is done in the style covered by the Crusaders, I believe that Alan Gorrie of the Average White Band who wrote the song would be proud of this band’s Excellent version. 👍🏾 🎶 🎼 🎵
@tomlavin3881 Жыл бұрын
It was written by Joe Sample of the Crusaders. Gorrie wrote the lyrics to the Average White Band version
@Ponch341 Жыл бұрын
@@tomlavin3881 Thanks for that info, I see now that he wrote it a year prior to Gorrie's version. Some media information tends to be somewhat misleading...🤔😜

The Crusaders actually only covered this song and their rendition is great, but is not as Funky and tasty as the original done by the Average White Band (written by Alan Gorrie).
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_out9 ай бұрын
@@Ponch341 i think you got it backwards hommes. I 've been listening to both. over and over , cuz we're covering it soon, and i give the strong nod to the Crusaders version.
