Big gratitude to my social studies teacher. I remember those days in class where we would sing the lyrics and vibe, not neccesarily in a cheerful way. I don't know how to describe it, but hearing this song nowadays just feels nostalgic all over. Time really does fly, and you never really know which direction it will lead you.

I shared this with my granddaughter 14 years ago. Don't remember how I came across it. But of all our wonderful music celebrating our Independence, -- America the Beautiful, Stars' Spangled Banner, Lee Greenwood's Glad to be an American, and so many more -- this piece registers as a high water mark for its relevance to today's political struggle, a parallel to 1776. Who knew 100 years ago that termites were beginning to eat away at the very foundations of our Republic? I never tire of listening to this: It's too late to apologize.

Founding Fathers: Let's make a Declaration of Independence so we can be a new country! Thomas Jefferson: Nah, I'll just play some sad piano then jump onto the conference table and play some hardcore violin and then gather the rest of the group and travel through time into the modern age and then create a rock band to play some more hardcore music, and THEN we'll see.
