People who would tell you that is impossible to do this and and it's impossible to do that, are obviously talking about themselves. They tell you not to do it because they can't do it themselves and that's why they're stuck in the same place doing the same thing over and over again. Those kind of people are dangerous to be around with. It's always hard to go against the flow but it will be worth it in the long run. I'm also into photography and I had my share of people telling me that it's just a waste of time and in my head I answer them back, F@@@ You! What do you know?? Great video by the way👍👍

Great video Luka, thank you very much. I'm a contributor since one year and I sold about 50 videos and about 250 photos, I contribute to Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5, I hope this is just the beginning :) I'm a filmmaker since 11 years but microstock has different rules and I had to re-learn almost everything! Very helpful, bye from Italy!

Hey! Thank you for your great content!❤ I am starting out as a photographers, but until now I only focused on wedding, portrait, family etc. photography. I've never knew I could actually make money with selling my images on platforms! I mean I knew but I thought all those people who get actual money from it are all already rich Americans (no idea where I got thay from...) But seeing you being successful is such a motivation! I am from Slovakia so you seem so much more real to me!! I am really happy for you and you actually gave me a new goal and new inspiration! Thank you Lukas, you earned a follower and a grateful fan! Keep up the good work and please keep creating helpful videos like this! Thank you!!!

I can see the benefits that you outline in working on shoots with other photographers - it really makes a lot of sense. But could it be an issue if you end up with very similar images to each other (and competing on the agencies)? So while you have shared the costs, your returns could be much reduced too. How do you deal with that? Or maybe you haven't found it such a problem?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 2 жыл бұрын
Well, there are pros and cons here, but I think the returns are not reduced much. Most of my best sellers are from group shoots. For example when I was in my first iStockalypse in London, there were around 50 or more photographers shooting very similar images with same models, and despite that, those images made me a looot of money, so I would not worry too much about that!

I uploaded my first image in February 2019. I now have over 300 photos and over 130 videos uploaded with about 5 stock agencies. I have only made the equivalent of £350. Since I invested over £1500 in camera equipment over a number of years, I really haven't seen any profit yet. Granted, I don't have ANY people in my portfolio, which may explain the low money, and my numbers are relatively low. The Pandemic didn't help. I know I really need to take my next step..... but I really can't invest any more money and I don't have the confidence YET to hire models. I may have to stick to still life and landscapes for the time being. Any tips?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 2 жыл бұрын
Well, like I said, try to shoot friends and family, if you don't have the confidence to hire models. Also, you can shoot yourself. I made some money from images, where I shot myself sitting on a couch, watching tv! And of course, also upload what you like shooting, so still life and landscapes!

One of the things which hinder me to product videos is how to delete logos and other stuff. For instance, at 9:50, how did you manage to have all laptops w/o logo?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 6 ай бұрын
Well, in videos, it is really hard to erase logos. That is why if I am shooting videos, I cover all the logos on the shoot. In this particular clip, you can see that there are stickers over all the logos on computers. I can remove logos in post if the camera is on a tripod, or if there is just a little bit camera movement, but it is just so much easier to do cover them on the shoot.

As someone who downloads pictures of people in offices a lot. I NEVER look for the smiling person. Especially if they're looking at the camera. Its sooo cheesy and cliche. I work in an office and the only time we're all smiling is when we're making fun of the boss. I look for the thoughtful or concentrating person. A professional attitude. If two people in a shot, have them engaged in discussion. Also don't have them holding printouts of fake charts. They may look colorful and interesting but its too unrealistic. We don't print anything any more.
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman Жыл бұрын
Thanks, it is always nice to hear opinion from someone who is buying images. But I have sold a lot of images where people are smiling. But yeah, I totally understand that there is a market for thoughtful, serious people. So I think you have to shoot both.

Amazing video, I have a quick question. If you become exclusive to one site can you still post different pictures on another site or are you as an individual locked to that site?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 3 жыл бұрын
Well, probably it depends on the site. Until recently I thought that you can't post any images on other stock sites if you are exclusive on iStock for example. But recently I got a comment that that is not true. So I am not 100% sure. Because everybody were saying that you can't sell any images on other sites under RF license. So, I will have to check that! But you can sell images under RM license on other sites, of you can sell prints, or mugs, or t-shirts with your images.

How much do you pay actors?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 3 жыл бұрын
Well, it really depends from country to country and how much experience that actor has, if he has a unique look,... so it can be from 10 - 50$ per hour.

After 1,200 photos (over a period of 16 months, 70-80 photos a month), I have $ 40 a month. Can I expect $ 300 or $ 400 a month in 3 years? I plan to upload up to 100 photos a month

Hello Luka. Thanx for the video. Very nice tips indeed. I have some questions: I'm a videographer who also shoot stills, right know I'm in 4 agencies and studying to become exclusive or not. Do you think the platform algorithms work equally for video and photo? The number of sold photos help in the contributor account?? Or the universe of videos and photos are independent? Selling photos helps in selling videos? Thanx again.
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😁 I think that photos and videos are separated. I don’t think that many photo downloads helps with your video performance. That is my opinion because there was a period when I didn’t upload much video content, and sales went down a little bit - only video sales. Also, you can decide to be exclusive for photos and not exclusive for video, or vice versa, so I believe it is a separate thing. But that is my opinion :) But yeah, I know exclusivity can be a hard decision!

@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 2 жыл бұрын
Well, it depends what kind of product photography and how good you are, hehe :) I would suggest you try to upload some images and you will see. It certainly cant hurt, but I doubt that you will make a living out of it. But I can be wrong of course. Just keep in mind, if you are shooting specific products, like parfume bottles, or other specific products, those images can get rejected, because they are just too specific.

hi , thank u for all amazing tuts, i want to ask some questions about dji mini 2, because of my budget limits, i can buy just mini 2 but my aim selling footages on stocksites, so if u say me, mini 2 not enough for stock sites , i will wait and save some money for mavic air 2 :/ ((i wont shoot evening videos ...just daylights and nature...)) thanks
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching! Well, that is hard to say, but I would definetely go with Air 2S. But of course, it all depends on the budget. Air 2S has much bigger sensor, so the image quality is much better. Of course, if you are shooting at daylight, both are fine. You can sell videos from both drones, but if you want to pull the shadows up and play with color grading, Air 2s is much better. Also you get 4k 60fps for that slow motion shots if you need and also 20MP images. That is what I would do, but yeah, Air 2s it is around twice the price of Mini2

Well, there are few different ways, and you don't need USD account 😀 You cvan get paid through Paypal, or you can order Payoneer prepaid mastercard and istock will pay you there, or you can get paid directly to your bank account. No need to be in USD, I also have EUR account, and that is it!

what about Stock submitter Software?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman Жыл бұрын
Well, I am not familiar with it, because I only submit to iStock, so I don't need that, but if I submitted to many agencies, I would definitely look into it. But be sure if it uses iStock vocabulary when submitting to their page, because iStock has a bit different keywording system - they use their own vocabulary, so images can be translated to many different languages.

Hi Luka , I'm Ankit a Exclusive Stock photographer from India and working on iStock since last year , I just wanted to know from you that how do you approach people for stock shoots or do you pay every models ?
@LukaAzman
@LukaAzman 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ankit! Well, I am more introverted person, so I don't usually approach people on the street for photoshoots. I started with friends and family, then I met some models, who gave me contacts of other models, and so on. You can also use social media or sites like Model Mayhem to find models. And yes, I pay to almost all models. But in the beginning you can offer images to the models in exchange for model release, so you can upload to stock sites. Or you can find small businesses and you can explain what you are doing, and that you can capture some photos for them for free if you can use these photos for istock!
