I am referring to the first verse of Psalm 1, and is the same word Jesus used in the Sermon on the Mount, as in Blessed (happy) are the meek and so on. Romans makes it very clear man has been given 3 sources of revelation. Nature, conscience and Scripture but NOT tradition. Of the 3 the least reliable is the conscience. However, just as the "book" of science cn be misread so can Scripture. Because of science, not the Bible, I believe the earth is less than 20k years old, probably about 8k. It was science that dragged me out of agnosticism to the Bible.

@@nickswicegood4316 You read James incorrectly. James is a pastor, and his book is practical not theology focused. The book is on how WE are to judge if another has faith. How to treat someone who claims to be Christian but shows no outward evidence. It is not about whether someone is, or not, a Christian because only God can judge the heart. Now here is part of the passage NASB 1995. I recommend reading the whole thing. Notice the very first verse I quote, it is very important. James 2: 13 For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. 14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can [n]that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. James focuses on the practicality of running a Church and judging from actions. Paul focuses on the internal and invisible realityt of salvation. Nevertheless, it is quite clear there was tension between the two. This is evident in Galatians Galatians 2:12 and culminated in the Jerusalem council Acts 15 which was presided by the recognized head of the Church at the time; James. Note, not Peter who in fact was reprimanded by Paul openly. James got the last word and he CONCEEDED to Paul. Yes there was tension and misunderstanding, and Luke records in detail how this was resolved IN FAVOR OF GRACE at Acts 15 with James agreeing. There is much more that has been written and that I can write on this. There is no dichotomy here. There is the typical paradoxical tension we see with many Christian doctrines such as the Trinity. \ Now, frankly, like most coming out of G3 including this sermon, meh.

@@HearGodsWord In defense, on a surface reading James does SEEM to run counter to "by Grace alone". Even the Apostles had trouble understanding this as wit the Jerusalem council. There are many and correct answers to this seeming paradox between James and Paul. I happen to like pointing out that the very first time the Church officially met on any matter, the TRUE First Ecumenical council (contra historians) was over this matter. I especially like it because it points out very clearly that the Church was headed by the half brother of Jesus Christ and NOT Peter. This takes a lot of wind from the sails of the absurd notion of Apostolic Succession as per Scripture the first and ONLY time there was one man at the head of the Church it was not even an Apostle. Apostles were much like today's Church planters and missionaries. They were there to start , organize and root Churches but not long term. Of course, they also could write Scripture, an ability that died with them and those that acted as their secretaries (Mark for Peter, etc). The Church went wrong VERY early in granting FAR too much power to clergy and pastors, which is again something Scripture records. I believe this is what is meant by the doctrine of the Nico-laitians.

Confessions are based on the Holy Bible( Sola Scriptura). Confessions are just organized topics of particular topics found in the Bible like God, Man ( anthropology), Christ, sin salvation( soteriology) justification, Sanctification, ecclesiology, eschatology. It is best you get a copy of Confessions( like Westminster confession of Faith. Or maybe get a copy of Heidelberg Catechism, or a copy of Belgic Confession of Faith.

If sola Scritura was The Way, then we would simply read it every Sunday, and then go on our way. My personal observation, after participating in various denominations and listening to many preachers over the decades, is that, the Bible isn't very straightforward. If it was we wouldn't have all the intense disagreement among ourselves about fairly major theological issues. It's interesting that Jesus didn't place so much emphasis on the Torah, or the Law,, and the ones who wanted to kill him did. I like the quote I heard the other day: If love isn't more important than your theology, you've got bad theology. What this preacher never says, is: Without people like me to explain this difficult book, and all the Greek words, you'll be lost. What he never acknowledged, is that he has his own secret sins. If he does have a sin or two, they certainly aren't as bad as "those others". People like this will say they are saved by faith, in my experience, but they carry a heavy yoke, where they want you to become learned men of God, like them, or else sit at their feet for decades, tithe to support their preaching. Jesus said that His yoke was easy, and His burden light. I heard once, that, the Hebrew word for yoke.meant the particular training discipline of whatever rabbi a person chose to follow. Anyway, I'm definitely saved by faith in God, and not this kind of theology, which oddly enough, seems to scoff, at anything that disagrees with it. I'm glad I can be like a child, and accept the love and forgiveness of Christ. Between the lines, even though he would probably deny it. I hear a strong theme of religious perfectionism.

Anyone who does meaningful Bible study (with an ACCURATE Bible), and is serious about knowing "the truth" (see Jesus words at John 8:31, 32), can readily see that the Catholic church (or Protestantism) is not based on the Bible, but on human traditions. Unless a person is transformed by the indwelling Spirit of God, they cannot do right & are doomed. Noone can earn salvation, but God counts faith in Yeshua as if it were righteousness. The battle then is to plant & nurture faith, not try to force resentful compliance upon the unwilling. The latter is a futile & counterproductive activity.

Peace be with you. 1cor 3:10-11. Trinity is not the teaching of Jesus about the only true God. Trinity is "anti" Christ teaching. Jesus taught me what he said in John 17:3 and Paul also prove it in his teaching about the only true God. 1cor 8:6. That is why I do what Paul said in 2Th 2:15.
