xD imo they put too much side content in this game. It really distracts from the pacing of the game. I don't mind an open world but most of it isn't used for story sequences. And if it is going to be open world imo it shouldve been dotted with a bit more of a human presence. Even tho it was technically always that way in the original game, i always found it very unrealistic that humans would have basically a handful of cities/settlements/towns on each continent.

In Japanese the reason for the hug before the kiss makes more sense. When Tifa says that maybe she's getting ahead of herself, Cloud doesn't say "not one bit", he says "hold on to me tight" because he wants her know that he embraces her feelings. Obviously the localization team doing whatever they want...

Again." - Cloud realizing that Tifa has had feelings for him all this time and decides he has to reassure and reciprocate her feelings then and there. Wild. She's had feelings for him since that night on the water tower and I can only imagine how much stronger her feelings got in his absence as well as seeing him again and spending all this time with him throughout the story. Also Cloud has a lot of times in Remake had trouble comforting Tifa or touching her outside of high stress situations. If there's shit going on he will grab her, hold her, pull her with him, but if its just calm he doesn't know what to do (like the scene in Aerith's garden with Tifa). Here though he holds his hand out and pulls her into his arms, a whole fireworks show outside and she's the only thing he's admiring and smiling at like actually smiling, and kissing in the end. The scene might be non-canon to the main story but the fact that this is how they had the scene go is very very telling to how Cloud and Tifa's relationship could go in the future when Cloud isn't falling apart while Tifa hopes to the gods that she can save him and the world isn't being threatened with destruction

I love how awkward the Tifa date is. The two introverts are adorable. BTW I don't think Tifa meant it was THAT complicated, just that Aerith has feelings for Cloud as well. But that's just my guess. And yes, I got Red as my first date. All the dates are worth doing / watching. Even the Loveless play and the song have multiple differences depending on who comes along for the date.

the fact that they went through the trouble to create an actual aria is truly something. Though they did do it once before. In Final Fantasy 6 they created (the imo better) Maria and Draco opera. Obviously it didn't originally have lyrics but when they were doing Distant Worlds, Uematsu actually wrote an aria for it to be performed live. Its spectatular.

I think this is really the first time Aerith has truly been seen. Her whole life she's just been this girl that people might spare a second glance for but ultimately she goes unnoticed by the world at large.

Spoilers: Aerith wants to be normal though, I don't think attention is ultimately what she wants. What she wants is friends and people who love her for who she is, even if obviously attention is tempting, but it's more of a downside of her being ostracized when she was a child. Attention might be more of a thing Cloud wants, but even then it's not just mere attention, but appreciation, for people to be proud of him and for him to be strong for his loved ones (which at the beginning was about Tifa and his mother and then became for all his friends and the planet).

@@DekkarJr SPOILER I don't think Aerith knows that her joining the Lifestream would do that, since she doesn't know the future like in Remake. The devs always say that Aerith looks forward for the future more than anyone...she doesn't know that she will die and what she wants is to summon Holy and go back to her friends like in OG. Future Aerith would have surrendered to her destiny because she knows she's doomed anyway and knows her duty, but not present Aerith, since she loves life and wouldn't have any reason to summon Holy if she knew dying would bring her and the Lifestream to save the planet. Aerith isn't actually a martyr, but a symbol of youth being broken too early, so I never saw it as a sacrifice, because I think it'd be foundamentally like glorifying her death, while it's actually meant to represent a sudden moment of tragedy. Reason why in OG we have the party wanting so hard to avenge her death and Tifa telling Cloud how much Aerith valued life and how many dreams she had for the future.

the singer is Loren Allred and that song (No Promises to Keep) was the song written for this game by original series composer, Nobuo Uematsu. He also wrote Hollow for the first game. And has said he will write the theme for the third and final game as well. He's somewhat retired, the last game he worked on in any real capacity was Final Fantasy 14 when it first launched, though he hasn't done any music for 14 since the 2nd expansion, Stormblood. There are very few composers in video game music that are more beloved and respected than Uematsu, he is a true legend. There is actually a live in studio First Take performance of No Promises to Keep that came out several weeks ago. The only people that know what it looked like when Cloud took Tifa back to the Ghost Hotel are the *Italian Senate* . In my head I'm thinking that Tifa must be thinking "I've been wearing this HOT outfit now for two games when is he gonna make a move... Those blade or better said Cutlasses they are made correctly in here with the handles likes that at 1:29:00 those are based on old short blades commonly seen during Naval. Even tho they did used them on land but they were more common used by sailors. The curved blade was multi functional to cut robbes and using it to boarding for example, and where a lot easier to learn to handle them. This blade was most popular by pirates to use as you didnt needed any skills to master and was easier to carry and to use them. The handles where like that with these type of Cutlasses to protect your hand/fingers as you basically need those to hold the blade. They were very popular back in the days.

Aww i love this part it's so good. Not to start a war but I think Tifa has the worst "loveless" because you can kinda tell the costume and character was made for Aerith, and Yuffie just plays it so funny and different that hers works as well. But Tifa just feels a bit like a lesser Aerith. While I loved the song I thought it was a bit odd choice to give Aerith a big song moment on the date regardless of who you chose too. As far as I remember in the original all the girls played the exact same part in the play and there was no song. I also would have liked the Aerith VA to sing it but maybe she is not a singer! I think they made it up to Tifa on the Skywheel though, hers is probably the best. The best part is Cid being asleep in Loveless haha, it is a nice easter egg 😁

It took me a second to realize that in the play, the buttons appear in the direction that they are placed in the controller. So if you see that it's going to pop up at the top of the screen, it's going to be triangle. If it's to the bottom of the screen, then it's X, and so on.

Nojima, the lyricist didn't write 'cobblestones' it in original jp. It was SENA's translation

@@didinau The interview between Nojima, Nomura, and Uematsu stated that Nojima san only wrote it in jp and wrote it in a way so that the song depicts Aerith's feelings for everyone not just Cloud or Zack and the the jp translation didn't have cobblestone in it.( I was referring to my original reply.) SE does give the Eng localization team quite a few creative freedoms that don't always go through the original jp creative team. As a matter of fact, SENA's incorrect translations in both remake and rebirth have become a big discourse on reddit and Twitter 😅. As for ultimania, I couldn't find anything that stated Nojima san wrote the English. I could have missed something, as the ulti is HUGE, so let me know if you know which pg it is

@@Renoistic I think it's actually no glitch, but you start getting perfects after having a 3x combo and above and that's why there always will be 3 good. The perfects are not timed, but based on combo. At least that's what I'm getting from watching it multiple times.

Yes the singer for the song is Loren Alred while the VA for Aerith is called Briana White. I agree that I would have liked maybe a voice closer to Aerith's but the song was beautiful. Speaking of which the VAs for Zack and Aerith did a steam together some weeks ago and were joking that Zack and Aerith should sing a duet of "Never gonna give you up" the Rick Astley song and now I low-key want it loll it would be so funny

Its crazy how less impactful the scenes are when its not Aerith in all of them. It surely up to the player to chose who to make the play and the dates with based on the bonds but i cant help to think Aerith is the cannon choice. It was her in all the trailers and stuff... thats the problem with bonding system in games. If you get Red XIII for the date scene, its less impactful for the story because the story is not about him... even he is the one you like the most. Games need to decide to go full cannon or full dating sim in those parts... Like, in one moment Tifa and CLoud are playing a couple in a play (which is based on the character you have the highest bond with) and the a second later he is drooling for Aerith in the actual canon scene... Makes Tifa being the character in the play a little meaningless for me

I said it in the Remake and I'm still there: The bonding system sucks. Fanservice is good to some extent but if you're going too hard on that, you will create a mess. Nojima stated in the ultimania that the gondola dates are to be seen somehow disconnected from the actual plot but it's not like anyone even cares at this point. Most players I've seen are treating them as the main event in the game.
