@@Philat4800feet I hope your family medical issues are better now as well a employment issues. When the two get combined it can be overwhelming. Sometime we just need to sit back and say "Everything is mind over matter" = "I don't don't mind and it doesn't matter".

I tried freeze drying them fresh last year and they were great for snacks. Haven't cooked any of them yet.😊

Great recipe and video. I am a total fan of your videos, I have watched and saved so many. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge. My favorite saying with my freeze drying friends is : If it’s good enough for Phill at 4800 feet it’s good enough for me! Thanks from the bottom of my heart! You are awesome!

Looks pretty good, like something I would eat. I agree, freeze dry cooked meals for the future. P.S. no such thing as too many green beans, lol. They’re my favorite veg, I pressure can gallons & gallons of green bean meal starters. Cooked meat & green beans, add a starch when you open the jar, it can’t be canned. Freeze dryer, complete meals even better.

I'm in😁. Once I get my FD up and running (when temp consistently below 100). I will try all three for MRE packs. Maybe also do fried pork bits for the fourth tray.

Freeze drying in a garage?

@Philat4800feet no live in AZ where it is hot and electricity is expensive🥵. AC would be running more due to heat from machine.

Green beans work great in a FD. Another good thing is broccoli. You can take broccoli florets and add garlic, oil, salt, parmesan and whatever other seasoning, cook in oven, then freeze dry and you have a very tasty snack. I don't recommend doing the broccoli stems though since they tend to get rather sharp and pokey.

Morning Phil. Would you omit the sesame oil or just use that meal sooner rather than say 2 years from now? (oil shelf life). How are you rehydrating? Just eyeball it on water? Thanks so much for the recipe.

Sesame oil give food a certain taste and aroma. I use go one step further and vacuum pack all my food to increase the shelf life. As far as water, yes, I add hot water until the food is back to the "original moisture content" (eye balling). kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXXNYWWirad5n7M
