Is Karijini worth going to in peak season? This is one of our favourite areas in Australia, but is it getting too busy? We couldn't get a campsite booking and decided to FREE camp Karijini NP in the July school holidays.
Here's our favourite Karijini Free Camps:
Tiger Eye/Nanutarra Pool

Mt Bruce Bush Camp

I am so glad we did our trips around Australia back in the 1990s and early 2000s. Campsites were usually empty or very quiet and there weren't hordes of sight seerers everywhere. Sadly too many people in beautiful places tends to ruin the whole experience. Now you generally have to go a long awy out to get away into the peace and quiet. I guess it is unfortuante that we tend to love beautiful places to death...

I couldn't agree more. I travelled up and down the coast many times over the years and you could easily find free or very cheap spots on the ocean for as long as you wanted to stay. I don't even bother now. With the online bookings now your lucky if you can string 3 days in row and the place is packed. Just the sheer volume of people now coming over from the East has pretty much killed it. I now spend a lot of time looking for places not on Wiki Camps. Cheers.

ABSOLUTELY... Me too...In recent years WILD CAMPING experiences (fully self sufficient) have become significantly scarce. It's necessary to "totally travel against the TREND". We can cherish our memories of what these places once were.. lol😍🥰🤩

Having travelled WA with tent/camper trailer and a van over the last 40 years, our last trip up North this year gutted us. The crowds were insane and we we had to travel late at times when on highway to get into a free camp. People don’t necessarily park to accomodate others. Places we used to camp are now fenced off. It wasn’t like it used to be at all.

Gosh Liz, I did the same thing when we Kayaked down the Henty and came out to the Ocean with not a soul in sight. Karijini remains my most favourite of places too. Thank you for giving us a good look around 👍💕🥰

You guys do know how to handle a camera & gather great footage. You're right about finding secluded places. Even here in NZ there are so many beautiful out of the way places to be found. We tend to ask the locals, rather than Information Centres or travel apps. Thanks again team for another great episode. 😊

Those were great campsites, and wow - Knox Gorge, and your reactions to it. Beautiful! Keen to head back and take that other turn in the gorge, all the rationale needed for there to be a next time. Albert Tognolini free site is a great base for exploring the eastern side gorges. It's quite spectacular!

I love the reaction you had down in the gorge. The Pilbara has always been a very special place for us. We feel things there that we have never felt in any other place on Earth. It is a place where we can 'feel time' and understand just how insignificant we really are.

all well and good but you just gave exact details on how to find a hidden spot not 5minutes in. Exactly wha all KZbinrs are doing to the country. People need to stop hand feeding people info.
@TheLifestylePioneers
@TheLifestylePioneers 3 ай бұрын
This is one example of endless places to discover. We're curious, what do you watch KZbin videos like ours for if it's not to discover new places to visit? And how does that differ from the videos you share about travel destinations to visit for your own KZbin channel? It's a huge country and there's no chance of 'running out' of places to visit.

@@TheLifestylePioneers hand feeding directions to little secret spots slowly kills the locations. Either from too many people or places getting locked up. By all means capture these places and share, but leave the directions out.

There's a time and place for keeping places a secret (like when a local gives us a tip for a lesser known spot) but in this case it's literally 100m up a gorge. It was to highlight and encourage people to explore more and not just go to all the 'hot spots'.

This is the MONSTER that MUST BE FED!KZbinrs & influencers have saturated & "over exposed" our amazing landscape & the real/true camping experiences. MANY cases of drawing the absolute trending "MUST SEE & DO" crowds, glamping rigs, drones/Gopros everywhere capturing many an unsuspecting adventurer. The insistance ... "we're working...THIS IS OUR REAL JOB," often without consideration/ respect of fellow travellers. Not to mention over burdening MANY inadequate facilities, creating supply/demand issues (camping sites, grocery supplies/ hospitality services, false economies & land degradation in many regions. This is the new normal until such time the "catch up/shake down period" eventuates. The economy/financial circumstances will also play a part.🛻🚐🛺💰🤑🤑
