Regarding the possibility of the area being closed due to a First Nations Ceremony. They are usually what's called 'Mens or Womens Business'. Some have been planned but others such as the passing of a member of the community could involve what is called 'Sorry Camp' where a period of mourning takes place. I policed the area called the APY lands in the north west of SA for ten years & was aware of numerous of what you would call closures. It happens in SA, WA and NT & more than likely in other states/territories. My suggestion would be to contact the local police station regarding any 'Cermonial Closures' in the areas you are travelling/camping.

For sure, we understand these things happen. It was the furthest thing from our mind to be honest when planning the trip out there.

Another great episode, thanks guys. I follow you and four other families caravanning around Australia. You all have your own way of showcasing your beautiful country, which is great. It's good to have your own point of difference. Cheers team. I hope you got your diff sorted. Im assuming that happened after making this episode.

Sorry to hear of the one nighter but they do often close the Gorge camping due to mustering as the cattle wonder through the camp ground . And yes only do the right track in Carawine Gorge with a caravan , not the left track over the river stones . Did you see the “ red marble “ rocks just out of Marble Bar ……….quite stunning ( where Marble Bar gets its name ) .The free camp on your way to Marble Bar that you stayed at on the river is station country , hence the gate and cattle wondering through the camp ground .

Thanks Fleur. We explored to the right but there weren't any spots free. There were a few caravans down to the left where we went so we thought we'd give it a crack. Thanks for the info on Coongan long pool.

Great Vid guys. I understand your hesitation in dropping your tyres with the weight on the rear car axel and van axel. But, you sure are making a lot of hard work for your tow rig and your selves. To clarify I run around 60psi on the bitumen on both car and caravan (both rear axels on the 79 and the van single axel are around 2.8T). Normal soft sand pressures are: front 18, rear 22, van 22. Generally don’t have any issues anywhere. But on the odd occasion when it’s really soft I’ll drop to: front 15, rear 18, van 18. On one occasion going up “Big Sandy” on the way up to 5 Rocks I had to drop to: front 7, rear 10, van 10. Obviously I pumped them back up once we made it up, kept our speeds down low and made no sharp turns. Basically I know the gut feeling is to keep them pressures up a bit but you are doing yourself a disservice by doing so. Regardless, if in doubt - crack another one of those thousand beers and enjoy your day 😉👍😎

We aired down to 15psi once we got to the soft stuff, but it was not match for these conditions. We agree though,tyre pressure makes all the difference!

that tricky turn i know the feeling, i was driving coachs for a guy years ago and was called in to do an emergency job and the only coach that was avaiable was a brand new one they had just had taken delivery of and i had to enter a gate like that, i went as wide as possible but didn't realize that it was longer than standard, i looked back to see the pipe on the top of the fence driven through the side just in front of the back wheels

Oh, man. What a horrible feeling that would be!

Regarding washing machines do you not pump water out of the billabongs,rivers and creeks?
@TheLifestylePioneers2 ай бұрын
We could in theory, but we don't have the ability to isolate our tanks or drinking water from the washing machine supply.

I note you don’t seem to be using your reverse osmosis water filtration system these days Simon. Have I missed an episode where you decided not to use it anymore? Last thing I recall about it was that you cooked your Karcher compressor while you were on the beach and needed to replace it

This one is the HemaHX2+ I don't have much experience with other systems but so far I like it's useability and the maps are great. It can be a little slow to load sometimes, but having it all off line including POI's, Campsites, etc is really handy.

After all, it is indigenous peoples country and probably wasn't meant for 4x4's and caravans and the like. Think of it as a " sign". All good when you know that you can just go somewhere else.

For sure. They have every right to close it for their needs. That doesn't diminish the disappointent when you've been looking forward to it for a long time and made a big effort to get there
