Thank you! Yes, CT had witch-hunts at least thirty years before MA, and had at least one more after Salem. CT even had vampire burials into the 19th century! 😳

@@revenantreads My jaw has dropped. Now I'm going to have to go read about Connecticut. Before this, I thought the only curious thing about it was why whoever decided how to spell it thought it would be a good idea to stick a silent "c" in the middle.

My ancestor, Winifred Benham, of Wallingford was accused of being a witch in 1697. Hers was the last recorded witchcraft trial in New England, and I’m happy to say she beat the rap.

I actually started that Mary Trump book months ago, and set it aside because I got distracted by other things. I need to get back to it. I’ve had my eye on the On Tyranny book because I’ve picked up few books with this theme lately.

On Tyranny is a super quick read. I think there’s an updated version that’s digital or audio.

I read On Tyranny and Malady (I think? On the American health care system), because I was very impressed by his The Road to Unfreedom - I'd recommend it to everyone interested in contemporary Russian politics, but it's also relevant to Western politics.

I haven't read those but am a fan of Snyder, and always interested in American politics. I saw an interview with Mary Trump on Planet America (Australian tv show) when her book was released and it was quite interesting. Very prophetic.
