Two lines of code to solve the second problem, cause why not: def page_digits(pages): return sum([9 * (10**i) * (i + 1) for i in range(len(str(pages)) - 1)] + [(pages - int((len(str(pages)) - 1) * "9")) * len(str(pages)) if len(str(pages)) > 1 else len(str(pages)) * pages])

you did the first program way harder than it needed to be, you couldve just made 4 IF statements and it wouldve worked fine, no for loops needed
