You can eat those beans. They are sweet. Also once the beans are dried, you can make flour out of them. A friend told me that the flour makes the best tortillas.

Also, mesquite flour is low on the glycemic index. There's a farmer's market in Tucson where you can take your bean pods and grind them into flour. You can keep it or sell it. Lots of people willing to buy. Nice article online a few year's back. Some say the flour has a nutty taste and delicious in baked goods

My parents had a mesquite tree in their backyard. They used to give the beans to a lady who had horses. The horses loved the beans.

Near us a new goat farmer harvested a lot of branches off nearby trees. They put them into a paddock of goats and went inside for the night. In the morning all the goats were dead. It was shocking and a lot of us small holders learnt a very good lesson. Make sure you correctly identify what you feed your livestock. The trees were very toxic.

Derek you trim Mesquite trees just like my husband and it drives me nuts. I am very selective when I’m trimming the mesquites. I takeoff the weight but leave the shade. My husband always tells me don’t worry they’ll grow back and they do. 😊

I love the look of this soap!! Do you use a lower lye concentration when you are doing swirls in your soap? Some recommend around 27% lye concentration when doing designs, I usually use 33%.......but I don't want it to trace too fast, what are your recommendations, thanks!!

Crystal do you withhold some of the milk to mix with the lye before adding to the oils or do you mix the lye with water ?
