In a world that is unsettled and scary you are a bastion of hope and calm. Your channel is so refreshing. I wish you could do a boot camp to help 90% of the family boogers who are doing it all wrong. Bless you and your wonderful family. Each one will change the world. Maybe just their little corner of it, but the world is better for your being it.

Spreading Gods word through her actions of a good Christian! How Showing people how to love others and involve children in doing/learning how to do everyday chores to help the adults of the family so we all can have more family time together. Instead of the parents doing all of the daily chores of a household leaving little free time ( for the adults to have) for the children to enjoy. Some of the Amish ‘old order’ are so worthy in todays society. God bless you and your family Ruth Ann

I find this channel absolutely delightful. While the likelihood of me ever actually making my own cheese or butter is slim to none, I watch every single episode because she is delightful to watch no matter what she is whipping up in her kitchen. And I've saved a multitude of her recipes for my own personal use as well. One of the best KZbin channels in my opinion.

When I was a child in fostercare, we had 5 milk cows. We had a separater and made butter to sell locally. Buttermilk for bread that sold locally and cottage cheese. The rest went to pigs, chickens, and whatever else liked it.

My Saturday morning treat...watching Ruthann create something wonderful! I don't plan on becoming a cheese-maker, as we do not have access to extra milk at this point. But...I absolutely love your teaching along the way! I bought some fresh butter over a year ago, and I thought it had gone "bad" and threw some of it out; when you said it could still be used for baking, I had a thump-my-head moment...of course...that makes so much sense! Also your explanation of the liquid from the butter needing to culture was super informative; I've always wondered about that and to my knowledge no one has ever explained it as you did! Thank you for showing us your garage...you are so right to count us as friends! Blessings, Marie

What an awesome response…. I loved your “thumping my head” comment because I can S-o-o-o relate to it 😅….as I become older my “wiser” moments seem to be a s-l-o-w-e-r moment 💁‍♀️….but like you I so enjoy Ruthann’s explanations because they make much more sense! The younger seem to speak a different slang type that, not to be rude mind you, but I don’t always grasp their meaning…..thank goodness I have younger family members who can ‘translate’ for me 😉….👍

You don't HAVE to use raw milk to make cheese. If you add calcium chloride to store bought milk you can use that instead. I thought it would be hard to do but keep in mind cavemen made cheese first.

I felt compelled to comment again - I don’t have friends or family so I enjoy watching your videos. I resonated with your last video of missing your community because you all did the same things. I wish I had others I could spend time with canning and gardening. I want to thank you again for this cheddar video. I’m self taught for everything and my cow calved last June. I’ve been wanting to dive into hard cheeses since then but didn’t have anyone teach me so well as you did here. I got the courage to finally and made my first wheel right after this and have made about 13-14 now. All because of you! So thank you, friend. ❤

The look on the baby calf… “Hey! You’re stealing my food!” And the kitties! Now we know who got the cream. ❤

Wow u do so much in one day than most of us,RuthAnn. I remember watching my grandparents who owned a dairy ranch, and all the work they did, farming, cattle, and dairy. I would own steers for beef,so much easier in the long run, dairy cattle not so much. Your children have learned so much and will continue.

I loved learning everything! Thankyou! My dad would try to make cheeses as a child growing up. 8 Kids and mom and dad. We had ONE cow and he milked moning and night for years. Our family did well on the 2 gallons a day we would get. Mom didn't (apparently) understand we could have had REAL whipped cream as she always purchased the fake stuff!

I love when you post🥰 ! You videos and sharing is such a blessing. I am wanting to try making butter and cheese, even though I am not on a farm nor have access to raw milk. I appreciate that you tell how you can still make them with pasteurized milk. May God continue to bless you and your family.

You are so amazing. I told my husband I want chickens, pigs, cows and a donkey. He laughed because we only have 1/4 acre of land in a development. He does keep adding onto our garden. Our neighbors think we are weird. We don’t care. lol. Love your cheese cave. ❤

Im so pleased to find your channel and i subscribed. Because I was raised by very old values and how to do food preparation and canning, smoking foods and salting down meat and fish. We were taught to not waste any if possible. I find looking though your vedios some very good and beneficial information. I have only a few members of my family left and they try to do as much of the old ways as they can. I will be 65 years old this June 10th. But, my great grandmother told me i was born 100 to 200 years to late lol. She left me when I was 19 years old but i had my grandparents another 15 years or little more. Lost my dad 35 years ago. We had a working farm and share crop as far back as i can remember until my dad passed. I married and raised 2 sons, lost a little girl and their father in military service. And as time moved on i took in several yiung boys because they had knowone to care for them and i did it without any government oversight. I really enjoy your channel because you and your family still do alot of what i continue to do. I don't use pressure cookers or instant pots. I can vegetables, fruit and meat. I do some dairy products also. I just want to see what you do that i can if im not. Thank you for sharing and being a sweet and caring person.

I'd like to share with you what I used to do when I had a cow. It took so much time to clean everything because I used to have an old separator. So I decided to get a big enough container that I can put my milk in. I took the container and put a hole in the bottom of it. Then I connected a faucet to the hole in the bottom. Then I would let the milk sit overnight The cream would come up to the top and all I had to do was turn on the faucet and let the skim milk come out until the cream came down then shut off the faucet. I would have pure cream. Just a little something I would share with you. The picture that you see is my father when he was in the service. I was a month old when I lost my father l never got to know him. He was taking his last solo with his plane and something happened to it. I really enjoy your videos the other day was the first time I saw one. I have lots of Amish friends and I've known for many years a family of Amish built my log home. I hope you don't mind me sharing things with you that I have done in my life I'm 75 years old. I have a lot of things I'd like to share. God bless you all and what a wonderful family you have.

Thanks, Ruthann, golly how times and technology have changed! I was expecting the larger floor model separator like we used. But this is so interesting to see there are small models for using with less milk. We, also, had a Jersey cow named Cloe, and, boy, did she give a lot of milk. So enjoying all the videos I have time to watch. 🥰

Dear Ruth Ann! I will come right to the point! One of my favorite meals is cheddar cheese grilled sandwiches and tomato soup! Could you show us a recipe for tomato soup? I would love to have some condensed tomato soup on hand for when nothing else will do but grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup! I made your condensed cream soups and they were so good, indescribably good! Thank you God bless you!
