If anything, it should be interesting that Nolan chose not to dispose of somebody he could kill so easily. It’s less about it being unnecessary and more about taking a loophole in his mission by choosing not to get rid of Art and having an excuse for why he didn’t bother with getting bloody again. It’s worth remembering that during Nolan’s later big fight with Mark, he was fighting two battles, the other being his Viltrumite upbringing. If he was the same person who first came to Earth, Art likely wouldn’t be breathing after this, at least.

Gold is also pretty damn soft. So something looking like gold but being much harder isn't exactly a wide range of materials to search through to find a match. There's not many ways to even get a close-to-gold look out of other materials. Also, it doesn't have to look exactly like gold. One, this is a cartoon. Two, gold oxidizes and looses it's bright sheen. I'm sure after battles and time, it's not exactly gonna be pretty and super glossy like a gold bar. Three, if it doesn't look close to any other material, "looks like gold" is about the best you can get.

Viltrumites don’t have super hearing, luckily. This scene was simply to imply that Nolan knew Debbie was visiting Art. In the comics, Mark walks in on a conversation about him, when we walks into the room everyone assumes that Mark heard what they were all saying. Mark explicitly says “Guys, I don’t have super hearing” and I believe he even makes a reference to how it’s a common misconception, just like how Art Rosenbaum thought he got his powers from the radiation from the sun when he made him his first suit! (another Superman reference). So no, Viltrumites do not possess super hearing!

All Nolan has to say to Debbie and Cecil that they attacked him(Red Rush attacked first) and he had to defend himself, then the rest of the Guardians attacked him. So he couldn't tell the "truth" as to protect their legacy. And they attacked him over a heated argument of not wanting to "officially" join their team . Cecil may not possibly believe him, but Nolan would've sowned the seed of doubt and had and plausible deniability.

It makes sense to lie to the world and the authorities so that they don't lose hope after losing Earths Mightiest Heroes, but you'd need to tell Cecill because he is bound to find out. And there is the implication that the guardians might've been able to take Nolan had they prepared, so if they struck first.

Sure would. But why does it matter? Because the power level is lower in the show? They're a more interesting, compelling character in the show, at least so far. If anything, being weaker in the show compared to the comics makes him more interesting. This would primarily be because in the comics, nothing short of viltrumites, battle beast, and endgame robot could stand against him. But now Nolan is threatened by more people, he can't just freely mow down every other character with no resistance.
