Too small to begin the flute? Why the FIFE is a great solution.

Have you been told that you're too small for the flute?
The enthusiasm for playing an instrument can often come early and it seems so unfair if you're little and the instrument you've fallen in love with is the flute. After all, piano player and string players get to begin much younger. Due to the physical demands of a flute, if you start before you're big enough then it can be very hard work for both you and the teacher, frustrations creep in and it's just not as much fun as you'd hoped.
Beginning on the fife allows you to get to grips with some of the techniques quickly and easily, meaning far more swift progress. The transition to the flute is just the next step and often a beautiful sound is achieved almost straight away.

Very nice. I like the fife you use in the video it almost looks like those piccolos that they use in the symphony orchestras.

I have the myfife flute as well as the fife book by Liz Goodwin and I love them. The myfife flute I simply adore it I really do, its fantastic. It's no different to the name brand models out there i.e. the Yamaha fife. The book is like a gold gem, it's so useful and valuable in its explanation. This is coming from an adult flute beginner.

@@gwenkelso-fundamentallyflu9386 and the great thing about both if kept well and in good condition they can be passed onto the next generation they will never get old the tuition in the books, playing the fife (which is fun rewarding and satisfying to play) they're both beneficial. 🙂

Do you have to use the thumb hole, or can you tape it?

You can’t tape the thumb hole as you need it open for a C.

This is a ‘myfife’ in the video but I have used both of those that you mention- they are great too!
