Boom poles are available at fairly reasonable prices, but why buy when you can build one? We were able to re-purpose some scrap pipe and make something useful. It turned out pretty well, and has been used quite a bit.

Awesome! And if the tractor has a 12v outlet you can add a winch.

I WISH these were $150-250 in the UK. They are like £500-750 ($650-900!)

I don't have alot of tools to do this, but I spoke to some people...Turned out if I bought a 3pt pre-made Hitch frame, a welder knocked up a boom, stabiliser arms and support for me out of old stuff lying around box girder. I paid him £150 for half a days work , the Frame was £250...I spent another half day, grinding and cleaning it - £20 on prime - £20 on bright red paint. Thing is excellent, I have a strong loop it can hang a chain hoist, I can dead lift with the Tractor hydraulics, I've lifted an engine block, I've lowered pre-moulded 500kg (1000lb) concrete forms into a culvert. Thing is mega useful. Now I want to learn to weld and build this stuff myself amd save money.

Hi there. Great build. I notice you have the remote spool valve for the Ford. I'm looking to get one for my tractor but I currently have the single hose with the push pull tab. I also use this to lock the 3 point in place to keep the arms up. I'm wondering if I replace it with the spool valve will I still be able to do this and how does it operate in conjunction with the 3 point. I can't find answers anywhere on the web. Thanks

Hmm, not sure? My tractor had zero hydraulic remotes when I got it, that's the aftermarket kit I got. Is your valve mounted in the same spot? I've used my setup with brush hogs that only have one hose, it works fine for that.

I bought a boom pole at Tractor Supply for $150, and it’s painted. Unless your time has no value you can’t save money fabricating something this simple.
