And to keep me you have to offer cash in life-changing amounts to make me stay. With official contracts that stipulate that you gave me the money. And it have to be in the multiple 6 figure range.

These are all great points! Thank you. Most of the people that I deal with giving bad/ false apologies tend to give the pseudo apologies that sound real close to a real apology. But by the tone, lack of accountability and defensiveness when you respond, you can tell that they are Not at all concerned about their behavior or impact. Eg:, "I'm sorry my talking to that woman bothered you, next time I'll tell them I'm not allowed to talk to women." " I'm sorry that my concern for being there on time, is hurtful to you. " When really it's the yelling, pressure, derogatory comments,, harsh tone, etc. Then it becomes, "well I'm sorry my apologies aren't even good enough for you. “ I like your phrase of," I'm willing to accept an apology, " I'd add," and commitment to improve your behavior/ what you said. I know that might take time, so I will leave you alone/ give you space and time until then."

A "right to disconnect" rule has come into effect in Australia, offering relief to people who feel forced to take calls or read messages from employers after they finish their day’s work. The new law allows employees to ignore communications after hours if they choose to, without fear of being punished by their bosses

*That is awesome advice!* My dad told me it about 35 years ago. (Not directed at me, but something to be prepared to tell others.) I've used it more than a few times at my current job because my boss is notoriously horrible about waiting until the last minute to ask for me to come in early. I've finally "trained" her and her sister that they have to give me at least two days advanced noticed for one day coming in early and that I need a month's advanced notice for our summer schedule (which is busier, but they tend to forget that I'm their driver and need to have a schedule).

I get off work at 4pm...I don't take meetings after 1530. Took my boss a few months to figure out why I pull the PIV out of the computer precisely at 4pm. She's just like this boss...works at night, works during her leave, works on weekends....sucks to be her. BTW, I make more than my boss. Part of the reason for that is I deliver on time. She, on the other hand, is ALWAYS late. People who seem to always be at work early, late, during weekends, etc, are usually just disorganized. Oh, and I don't attend meetings that have no agenda. I'm not getting roped into doing YOUR job because you can't keep track of a calendar.

FINALLY she would call. They'd get there 10 mins later so now we are at when the meeting was supposed to end. They'd get it going in like 3 mins and then she'd say, "Well, let's keep going." Meanwhile, I needed to find coverage to attend these and now we'd gone over. It was maddening.

Scheduling the meeting means that if she complains that you're just abandoning your duties by ending the meeting on time, you can point to the meeting and state "I scheduled a meeting to follow up on the topic that was not urgent but she insisted she inform me about during a time we both had free". CYA.

I responded, that it was 12:22, and I had a 1 o'clock meeting, a 2 o'clock, a 3 o'clock, and a 4 o'clock meeting and I WAS NOT doing all of that without getting something to eat. We wrapped it up and I got lunch. Sad that you have to do all of that just to get the lunch hour you're allegedly allotted during your 9-hour workday.

In the trucking industry drivers have a Federally set maximum of hours they can work. If they are forced to work past that the person forcing them can be fined up to $10,000. I know of one such case. I also know of a case where a company owner was having drivers drive beyond their Hours of Service and not log it. He got 5 years in a Federal Penitentiary. When you drive for a living you have to be able to show your status for On Duty and Off Duty times. Before electronic logbooks we used paper ones and had to have a log sheet for that day plus the previous 7. Companies kept logs up to 180 days. If you were involved in a bad incident guess how far they looked back? Since I itemized my taxes I kept my logbooks for 7 years in case of being audited which happened twice thanks to a certain income tax company with the initials JH. Never had an issue with them until that one year the preparer decided to get creative instead of entering the information as was given. Wifey didn't want to wait for the check to come back.🤦🏽‍♂️

Home was 2+hours one way. It never failed. There was always a crisis the day I had a medical or dental appointment after work.
