These are all great points! Thank you. Most of the people that I deal with giving bad/ false apologies tend to give the pseudo apologies that sound real close to a real apology. But by the tone, lack of accountability and defensiveness when you respond, you can tell that they are Not at all concerned about their behavior or impact. Eg:, "I'm sorry my talking to that woman bothered you, next time I'll tell them I'm not allowed to talk to women." " I'm sorry that my concern for being there on time, is hurtful to you. " When really it's the yelling, pressure, derogatory comments,, harsh tone, etc. Then it becomes, "well I'm sorry my apologies aren't even good enough for you. “ I like your phrase of," I'm willing to accept an apology, " I'd add," and commitment to improve your behavior/ what you said. I know that might take time, so I will leave you alone/ give you space and time until then."

*That is awesome advice!* My dad told me it about 35 years ago. (Not directed at me, but something to be prepared to tell others.) I've used it more than a few times at my current job because my boss is notoriously horrible about waiting until the last minute to ask for me to come in early. I've finally "trained" her and her sister that they have to give me at least two days advanced noticed for one day coming in early and that I need a month's advanced notice for our summer schedule (which is busier, but they tend to forget that I'm their driver and need to have a schedule).

I get off work at 4pm...I don't take meetings after 1530. Took my boss a few months to figure out why I pull the PIV out of the computer precisely at 4pm. She's just like this boss...works at night, works during her leave, works on weekends....sucks to be her. BTW, I make more than my boss. Part of the reason for that is I deliver on time. She, on the other hand, is ALWAYS late. People who seem to always be at work early, late, during weekends, etc, are usually just disorganized. Oh, and I don't attend meetings that have no agenda. I'm not getting roped into doing YOUR job because you can't keep track of a calendar.

In the trucking industry drivers have a Federally set maximum of hours they can work. If they are forced to work past that the person forcing them can be fined up to $10,000. I know of one such case. I also know of a case where a company owner was having drivers drive beyond their Hours of Service and not log it. He got 5 years in a Federal Penitentiary. When you drive for a living you have to be able to show your status for On Duty and Off Duty times. Before electronic logbooks we used paper ones and had to have a log sheet for that day plus the previous 7. Companies kept logs up to 180 days. If you were involved in a bad incident guess how far they looked back? Since I itemized my taxes I kept my logbooks for 7 years in case of being audited which happened twice thanks to a certain income tax company with the initials JH. Never had an issue with them until that one year the preparer decided to get creative instead of entering the information as was given. Wifey didn't want to wait for the check to come back.🤦🏽♂️
