“Took Kirti Chakra with her...”Parents of late Capt make serious allegations against daughter-in-law

On July 5, 2024, the President honoured the family of Captain Anshuman Singh, who was martyred while saving his comrades in Siachen, for their unwavering courage and bravery. Although the Kirti Chakra was awarded, another source of pain for Anshuman Singh’s parents has emerged. The government has given Smriti, the wife of martyr Anshuman Singh, his photo album, clothes, and other memories which she has taken back to her home in Gurdaspur with the given Kirti Chakra. According to the allegations made by her in-laws, she not only took her parents’ martyred son’s medal but also changed the permanent address on her documents to her home in Gurdaspur.

This is straight selfish and rude behaviour. Sab kuch claim Karne ke samay santulan nehi gaya lekin ekbar chakra dikhane aur char bate kar ne me santulan bigar gaya. Uff. It maybe hard to accept, but, reality is once kids grow up and gets married, they belong to their new family, their first priority is their spouse. No matter how much sacrifice parents do for kids nor does it matter how long a marriage was (with or without kids doesn't matter). Spouse will have first right over his belongings, that's why they're called life partner. If you look around the world, in many cultures, parents keep distance from son's life after marriage, freeing him to carry his family life. But, in India, parents don't know when to let go of their son and they keep interfering in son's life, which is the main reason for saas bahu issues and ultimately causing stress to son. Wife will have first right over husband's belonging, and parents financial situation should be analysed and if they require part of family pension for livelihood,then that should be given for sure. But, if they're well off, then no need.

A women is widowed at such an early age and then she will spend then rest of her life in her inlaws house. How can someone expect this? Can a man stay in his inlaws house forever? Why not? Even if a women service holder dies all her monetary compensation goes to the husband. Then technically he should be staying with his wife's parents. This army officer's parents are not poor. This father his himself a retired govt employee getting pension. Why is he making such hue and cry? Actually he and his wife is unable to digest that they lost a major share of their dead sons money just because of 3 months. If he had not been married they could easily get all benifits. This is why women do not stay in inlaws house after husbands death. Family like a vulture stares at the money left by dead son. Had the parents been poor this could still be justified. I pray no one should get such parents.

News in The Hindu Amid allegations made by the parents of late Captain Anshuman Singh against their daughter-in-law Smriti Singh, Army sources clarified that the Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) of ₹1 crore was split between his wife and parents while the pension goes directly to the spouse. In addition, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced ₹50 lakh in aid, of which ₹35 lakh went to his wife and ₹15 lakh to his parents. The officer’s wife is receiving certain benefits as she was nominated in the will, sources said, also noting that Captain Singh’s father is a retired Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Army and is a pensioner himself and also avails of other benefits as an ex-servicemen. As per policy, once an officer is married, his wife is the nominee for pension, an Army source explained.

And trust me, the parents are naive that they said it in the media, but they are not demanding this from her! I have read some comments of female gender and they were bragging that a man belongs to wife and not his parents. First of all, the married women also belongs the husband family and not to her parents family thats why you have alimony rights. If this family system gets like western countries then, hey girl, you would have to work in 40 deg temperature with 90 percent humidity to survive. Now just think, a young widow woman marries her next lover and the kirti-chakra will be in the house of another man. what a shame for the martyr, what the shame for his parents. bhai, duniya me koi kisi ka nahi hai. many life partners are evils in todays world. they are constantly taught to hate their in-laws. What we see is continuous hate. I know a life partner of my known friend, who had asked him to leave his parental house and when child was born she not allowed her in-laws to even touch the child, and even not show child to them on videocall as she have blocked their contact numbers.
