When the band wrote most of the music first, they started to notice that most of the songs were built in loops of 7... "7empest" main riff in the middle of the song is 3 loops of 7. Maynard played off this and added a 7 to the title of the song, among other easter eggs he uses: 1. A 2. Tem 3. -pest 4. Must 5. Be 6. Just 7. That

This song won a Grammy for best metal performance. In the acceptance speech, Danny says something to the effect that it gives him hope for the human race that people still have the attention span for a song this long. Haha. The instrumental parts are just phenomenal. I think the gist of the song is that shit happens I'm life, it's not always nice. You have to accept it and prepare for rough times or storms in your life. If you don't anticipate and accept it, it may destroy you.

Loved your reaction. I also really enjoyed the colorful movements I was watching on the TV behind you. I know there's a name for it, but it escapes me. Anyway, it was beautiful to watch, along with your reaction.

Thank you my friend! Cynthia and I are taking a small break from making videos until after the 4th of July. But we will get back at it soon. I told Cynthia that it is time for her to do APC and some Tool reactions with me. Starting next week, she will participate in those reactions. Have a wonderful weekend.

As a guitarist in my 50s, I always felt Adam approaches the guitar like I do(better of course)... he prioritizes sound, mood etc over how many notes he can play. Even the impressive solos on this song don’t “shred” but rather emote through the instrument. Beautiful guitar work and none of it works without all 4 guys

hey dude, this really resonates with me. as a young guitarist I was all about steve vai, shredding, 'impressing' people etc. since discovering Tool, my attitude has completely changed to more of a 'what will enhance the song' kinda approach. rhythm too, wow, so important (i know it seems obvious)
@Mboogie69 Жыл бұрын
@@FredHampshire I hear you. I had several friends that were into the shredders but I never was. I think it’s good to have those techniques but the decade I played violin in school orchestra trained me to be aware of how I fit into the music rather than making it all about me.

@@Mboogie69 nice! The problem is, my favourite band before Tool was Pink Floyd (still is a favourite), and was big about lead guitar. But now I'm more into rhythm playing since getting into Tool

The members said that sevens just kept popping up in notation, throughout recording of the album.

As with TOOL albums, I think it's fair to say Maynard is reacting to the time. And the Tempest is the person who will act as if everyone else needs to move out of the way of their emotional storm... and then act "surprised" when you call them on their BS like how dare you question their authenticity? We all know a Tempest. And you make a good callback to Pet where Maynard is talking about manipulators who want you to be good little loyal creatures. The Tempest can be that manipulator who tells you to be calm, they will be your guiding light, then they unleash the storm and will take you out with their enemies, they don't care. As long as they get to be the storm... that's all that matters.

Yes. I am so glad you found us. Currently, the KZbin algorithm has our channel deep into the country of Spain. We enjoy Spanish artists tremendously. The response from Spain has been significant. But I am a tool fan. When Cynthia and I are together, we react to a lot of Spanish and Hispanic artists. When I am alone during the weekends, I do “weekend vibes” sessions where I react to a variety of things. I created an entire playlist of Tool reactions for your viewing pleasure. We don’t get much traction in the USA market due to the algorithm. Spread the word! Our home base is Connecticut. Thank you again, and I do hope you subscribe. The more we get USA based subs, the more the algorithm will balance out.

I think the time signatures in the song had seven in it almost the whole way through it like 78 I don’t know much about time signatures but I know it has something to do with that that’s why there’s a seven on the title

I knew I was going to get some comments on the lack of headphones. For this one, I used a Bose SoundLink Bluetooth speaker. If you never used this type of speaker, I strongly encourage you to check it out. Bose does not pay me to say this. I am just offering my experience with it to you. The bass quality along with the blend of treble and mid-range is quite good and works very well with Tool songs.
