You sure have a lot of gems in there. I love the rulers and yard stick collection being used as "wallpaper". 😊

I enjoyed the tour of your tool room. The rarest tools I have are 2 1889 hand drills, & a combination square that has a pencil sharpener in place of the usual level.

Hi I'm a collector too and do restoration on planers, saws, and other tools related with wood working. I have been following you for a long time on KZbin, and I'm happy that you are going to continue doing instructional videos for future generations. You and other KZbin-rs will inspire many people, so that we don't lose this beautiful woodwork art. Thank you.

I like your idea of placing a data tag with many of the tools. In addition you could add purchase details on the back of each tag for more thorough archiving if that's important to you. My problem is that I can remember all the shit and beleive me it's a curse at times!

Hi, a question in regards to your combination planes, have you ever thought about doing a video on each model you have, and in that video describing what to look for in plane, what year it came out in, showing the plane in your hands with up and close video of all the parts. I have some but not all, work in progress. cheers from Tasmania

Wow, nice! At 13:00, what is the white slide-rule-looking thing on the turntable? Besides collecting tools and measuring devices, I also collect calculating devices, so it got my attention.
@ChetSpier3 жыл бұрын
It is a nice piece. Belonged to the inventor of it. It is a weight slide rule.

Many thanks for talking about the ethos of Can I Have It Chester....just one important thing to point out to your subscribers.....Yes we see most of the tools based around woodworking but we'd like folks to know that we let collectors/users or other skill trades sell too, metalworking etc......and if anyone wants to drop in they're welcome. facebook.com/groups/CanIHaveItToolAuctions

That's a good point that i should have given more thought to. I hope your comment and my reply helps to communicate that. It is indeed a site that is for many different crafts and trades, mechanics, glass blowers, metal smithing and blacksmiths. Plumbing tools, taps, and dies, along with literature on the how to's and the catalogs pointing out the vintage tools available at different periods. Too much really to go into here but open and varied. Like i say in the video, it's great to just watch and see what surprises come up and that one can learn from. Thanks for the response.

I can't find the Facebook group , what is it? sorry
Tool restorers, tricky subject here. if it has been cleaned, how did they clean it, ? if chemical clean did they thoughly clean chemical off. Had abrasives etc. For me sell it uncleaned.

I think when you stated if you buy them to use you dont need this amount. Your forgetting how many people that buy tools to use end up stop buying once they get the right amount. At this point you see it you want it you buy it lol
