a schism is a seperation between two beliefs (usually religious) the song is about the seperation between the protestant and catholic churches lol

@@Qliphirot I agree. I think it’s more about the band itself. Knowing how much they fought at the time just makes it make sense. The Schism aspect is their metaphor. And I think this song and Ticks&Leeches are directly about surviving the music/entertainment industry.
