Hearing that "Pre Chorus" riff at 3:47, plam muted with full volume/distortion really gave me more insight into how... tense that riff is. It really adds a sense of dread and doom to the song, a very "evil" (as Jones would put it) sounding passage. Then suddenly violent with the bar chord, then back to evil. I picture it as rolling waves, then a CRASH, back to turmoil and rolling waves. Anyways, kickass vid. I love watching you go in depth.

@IIMeanDeanII Thank you so much. I'm really glad the video helped. Don't worry so much about the musical terms, they'll sink in over time. It's much more important that you can hear and replicate the parts. I have had a lot of requests for more Tool so with that Jambi is next. I will try and break it down a little simpler as I go along. As for NIN, as much as I enjoy they're music, not much going on besides a cool riff hear or there, guitar wise mind you. Things they do will get covered.

Man I don't know where you get the time to do all these, but they are fucking awesome! They're all incredibly complex songs and you've managed to memorize the entire thing. props dude. If you ever get a chance to spend another month or so learning one of these, I have been searching everywhere for a lesson on right in two, which is by far my favorite tool song. I think it would be a lot easier to learn it from you

That was AWSOME!! I like the way you teach, you're definitely one of the best I've seen. Thank you for taking the time to show us aspiring guitar players really good song lessons. Can you please do a TOOL "SOBER" lesson when you get a chance. There are some on line but I'd like to learn the song from you. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and skills.

@OathOfDruid Jones' uses a lot of delay on that part so it seems as if your playing all those notes. The open note that you speak of is the same as the 5th fret note. In all honesty, if thats what you hear and like to play then continue to do so. Personally I like to minimize it and let the delay do the work. Thanks for the feedback!

@BraveMavrick Hey man, thanks a lot. That part is tricky. Very similar (basically the same) to the riff the bass plays to start the song. Though he uses that triplet motif to turn it around. As for the pull offs, just slow down at first and make sure the pulled note is clear and even. Try playing the opening riff to Jimmy and use pull offs. Then step up to Jambi, another similar idea.

One of my absolute favorites to play on bass. This song actually helped me become a better bassist because I wanted to play it enough that I actually practiced possibly so I could do the little trills and such until I finally got to where I could do it all at full speed consistently without error. So when I decided I'd start learning guitar too to help record my own songs (picked up a Steinberg UR22) this was one of the first songs I picked to learn. Great lesson.

Alright, I think you are very intelligent with music. I'm just getting into playing guitar, about half a year. So, as you can imagine, I'm feeling a little lost. I'm a huge Tool fan. By far my favorite band, and I'm thrilled to have listened to your input on Adam Jones and their songs. Your Adam Jones lesson was fantastic, I got a little lost on some parts, simply because I am not very educated in understanding music yet. It was very interesting to have it broke down in that way.

Can't believe I'm saying this. It feels somewhat like I am correcting the master, as I always come to 'axe' first. You are the 'go to' guy in my book. However, during the 'hammer passage' coming out of the drum solo between the 10th and 12th fret on the A and D, and eventually E string, I hear one more slight variation that plays 10-12 on the A, 10 on the D, and back to the 12 on the A. He uses only three notes and it repeats two, maybe three times, and I think he inserts it twice in the passage. What makes it cool, is the timing change using, four notes, six notes, and these three notes added in. It is subtle as hell, but I believe it's there and is a large part of what makes this passage so beautiful. There, I said it... am I hearing things? Perhaps. But I use it... and it fits. Signed: 'picky, picky' Squee Zen.

Wouldn't really consider that a solo, but hey thanks anyways for those extra riffs, chords, and fill in guitars I didn't know the parts to. I'll come back and learn the parts some other time, since my bootleg guitar pro I got from a friend years ago stopped working, it really helped me move away from playing simple riffs and chords on guitar. Eventually I'll have to buy guitar pro to learn new songs since I'm not that good at learning by ear. Have a nice day

With that said... I would love to hear more from you. I'm subscribing for sure. I was wondering if you could do more around Tool and NIN. I noticed that you were wearing a NIN T-shirt, so I'm just assuming you might have some knowledge on this band as well? Could you even break it down for the dumb that are just getting into the music world of playing guitar? It may not be worth your time, but I want to learn in a bad way. You have been very helpful already, and I appreciate it. THKS.
