So many bangers on Aenima, it does get lost in the shuffle. Its probably in my top 3 songs off the album with Eulogy & Aenema.

This has always been my favorite Tool song. I don't think it's their BEST song, but it holds a special place for me. I think it's because it was while listening to this song that I became hooked on their music and a fan of theirs for life.

It's just the best album from them. Fans who came into the band at Lateralus just missed out 😢

You sure this wasn't an 8.7 ?? I really thought the fun you had coining this and still pointing out the musicianship by all 4 while counting this , you'd give that extra . 1.

"Jimmy" is little Maynard. This song is about Maynard's youth. His parents divorced and he was forced to live with his mother and abusive stepfather. He wanted to live with his father. This song is about his longing for his father to return and save him from "a dead Ohio sky". I had a similar childhood and I have a hard time listening to this song. It breaks my heart every time.

It's actually about when his mother had a brain aneurysm and were forced to separate because she wasn't capable of caring for him any longer. The abuse is another important theme, but the main one is the separation from his mum

He didn't really know his father. He had to live with his dad because his mother was no longer able to care for him. Maynard was basically his mother's caregiver, which wasn't good.

The song is about Maynard returning to crucial time in his life, when he was eleven, in order to move on, healed, by living out and surpassing his trauma.

@ Which chapter was that? The chapter I just read said he went to live with his dad when he was 13. No mention of living with his aunt, though his aunt did help care for his mother.

You shouldn’t meet your heroes… I got Danny’s autograph after the concert of the Beat in September (he was reluctant to sign but did sign) I also bought a $100 autographed drum head from the concert. I knew the concert was coming back for a second show in November so I bought a print of an octopus in the hopes of having Danny sign it. He remembered signing an autograph from the last show and refused to sign my Octopus print saying didn’t I get you last time?? even after explaining to him what I was hoping to have him sign. I couldn’t have asked in a nicer way yet still got refused it takes seconds to sign something but apparently it’s hard to do for free when you’re charging for it. I’m a big Tool fan and support the band by having all their albums and a bunch of merch and even Danny’s merch and solo projects. Do disheartening…

Didn't listen to Intermission first. Ruined! Kidding of course but you should, it's good for a laugh.

Intermission is a necessity! It’s the intro to the song just done way differently 😂
