They are all masters of their trade and therefore in my opinion are the best band ever to exist. You can’t have a great band without everyone being the best at what they do.

The amount of ridiculous detail in this song is insane. The vocals follow a mathmatical sequence in number of syllables per line, Danny sets his drumset up in sacred geometry patterns, i mean it just goes on and on. Totally nuts

You are spot on with Danny...funny to think he only started playing with the other guys to initially sit in and help out. With a drummer like him...you can't help noticing his drumming. My daughter pointed it out one day....that he is what keeps it all together. The beautiful perfection that is TOOL. On a side note....Maynard is a rock God...as are the other two at their craft. Keep it up yo🤘👏

Somehow you start hearing an instrument first then you catch a groove then the lyrics come and finally you combine them all, the amazing thing of Tool is that the more you listen the song the more you find!. I still hear F.I. and find new nuances, new feelings, new beautiful coincidences between instruments, voice and lyrics

Its why as a tool fan the music holds so much for so long. you can listen to every album and song and just listen to a different part every time it never gets old. there was another rection channel (cant remember now) but it was 3 people nodding along to 3 different grooves in the same song. and that to me is tool.

Here's what you need to know about Tool...and their fans. Tool are above all, amazing musicians, and their music is always different....in so many ways. Tool fans love everything about the above, myself included. They are a ravenous bunch, but they have a lot of collective wisdom to share. Mine... Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned is as good as they get, but it's not their most approachable. Do The Grudge, 46&2, and maybe the trinity (Disposition/Reflection/Triad) first. Then do something like Right in Two...or Descending. Do a once over through Fear Innoculum the album as it's awesome top to bottom. Once you've gotten all that out of the way.....do Third Eye, and then get to Keys/Stoned. Tool is a journey.

You don't really have favorites. You have times where you really appreciate Danny's skill on drums, or Justin's riff on the bass. And what you appreciate on each song changes as you keep listening to the music. And even your favorite song on each album changes. And after a while you get so thirsty for more of that sense of discovery, or of unfolding, that you have to live vicariously by watching others discover the music.

Enjoying the watching you go down the 🐇 hole 😂😂😂 IMO Danny is the best drummer I’ve ever heard. First time you listen, or anytime, you hear it. But the more you listen, the more you hear how phenomenal Adam is on guitar, Justin is on bass, and Maynard is with both his lyrics and using his voice as another instrument.

Every member and sound is great, but I love when Adam Jones slowly plays with a double stop bend and you get distortion that goes from pulsing quickly to slowly and back. With a flanger it gives this amazing psychedelic lighthouse sound, I don't know how to explain it better. Oh hell yes 15:06 too those pinch harmonics.

All the things you are describing we all get too! the swaying motion and everything. This song is an exercise in mathematics applied as music. The whole song is made around the GOLDEN RATIO/Fibonacci sequence. The time signatures of the chorus of the song change from 9/8 to 8/8 to 7/8; as drummer Danny Carey says, "It was originally titled 9-8-7. For the time signatures. Then it turned out that 987 was the 16th number of the Fibonacci sequence. So that was cool The syllables Maynard sings in the first verse follow the first six numbers in the pattern, ascending and descending in the sequence 1-1-2-3-5-8-5-3. "Black (one), then (one), white are (two), all I see (three), in my infancy (five). Red and yellow then came to be (eight), reaching out to me (five). Lets me see (three)." In the next verse, Maynard begins with the seventh number of the Fibonacci sequence (13), implying a missing verse in between. He descends back down with the following pattern; 13-8-5-3. "As below so above and beyond I imagine (13). Drawn beyond the lines of reason (eight). Push the envelope (five). Watch it bend (three)." The second verse adds the missing line to complete the sequence; "There is (two), so (one), much (one), more and (two), beckons me (three), to look through to these (five), infinite possibilities (eight)." 1-1-2-3-5-8-5-3-2-1-1-2-3-5-8-13-8-5-3 THAT... probably makes it the most perfect song ever made!

But I do recommend reading the lyrics at some point because half the power of the song, if you can believe that given how powerful the music is, but it's true -- *half the power of Tool songs comes from the lyrics*. That applies to the other two bands, too: A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Hope you continue this journey. Spiral out and take care.
