Let me grab my pen real quick... there we go! One of my favourite songs to jam to, playing this one since forever. I've verified my tab with _every resource_ I could find, it should be correct unless I missed something. For the squeaky solo I put a very aggressive distortion in front of the fully distorted Diezel profile and put some more treble onto it for the squeaks. Have fun jamming! \m/

Somehow, after all the years of listening to Tool this song just kind of passed me by. It wasn't until Fear Inoculum came out last year that I went back and started relistening to their older albums again and while I know Opiate, Undertow and Aenima by heart and am quite familiar with Lateralus, 10000 Days was my least listened to of their albums so this song never got the proper attention it deserved. I'm making up for lost time now and I watch your cover of it more than I listen to the actual track. Much love, man. Fantastic work.

Damn this song is good. Every time I listen to it, every time I play it even, I find something new that I like about the intricate composition. This song, at least for me, is the quintessential Tool song,. It has a bit of everything; polyrhythms and polymeters, odd time signatures, just downright epic sounding parts, fun guitar work, and to top it off, the lyrics are about a guy so high on DMT that ET appears to tell him the meaning of life and how to save mankind from itself but he forgot the fucking pen and subsequently shat the bed. Typical.

1) The quality of your playing and videos is real close to perfection. 2) You're pushing me clean through the walls that have been my final obstacles to total TOOL mastery. The last 90 seconds of Rosetta are an example - it gave me fits. Now I play it with ease. It was ironic having Maynard repeatedly growling "Don't know.....won't know" at me as I kept botching that insidious, wonderful polyrhythm. It was like he knew. 3) Your playing + the play along tabs are the greatest guitar resource I've found on YT. Axe of Creation is a super cool dude (with KILLER tone - check out his Jambi lesson) and has been a great help. Guitar Pro tabs have carried me a long way. You, however, knocked it out of the park and shattered a windshield or two in the parking lot. 4) Based on the difference you've made here, we actually drink an occasional toast to Max Neissl. We pronounce it KNEE-sul. I hope that's right. I'm a German American with an "-ei-" name and clods are constantly getting it wrong. 5) There are two things that ALWAYS make me laugh. One is Sling Blade saying "french fried potaters." The other is the orange slices and fetal spooning line from Rosetta. If that ain't sheer hilarity, there ain't no such thing. 6) The "But I forgot my my pen" thing might be the greatest sudden deflation in literary history. Poor dude. What a way to convey the crushing agony of being on the cusp of unimaginable knowledge and awareness, then having it yanked out from under you. This is Neil Peart-level lyrical mastery. Wow. Just wow. 7) In 2010 I caught Danny's autographed/drawn on tom head from the front row at Red Rocks. It was my birthday, too! Way, way too cool. My freakishly long arms finally paid off. 8) After tragically not caring about TOOL for the first 25 years of my rock and roll odyssey, my GF turned me on to The Grudge and created a monster. We've now seen TOOL 26 times all over North America. 9) I was underwhelmed by Fear Inoculum the first time I heard it. Now I consider it a candidate for the best album of all time. It may contain the most effort of any album, based on the interviews I've listened to. The boys came through big time in the daunting task of creating a worthy successor to the superb 10K Days. 10) I'm looking forward to seeing Wings/10K, Third Eye, Undertow, and Jambi tamed by you. 11) Your comments during the tabs are excellent. Best bridge in existence? Quite possibly. Your insight and attention to detail are exemplary. Thanks, man. Seriously.....thanks a trillion. TIP: If you hit SHIFT + comma/period, you can slow/speed up the video while KEEPING PITCH! That's a big help learning the trickier parts without having to use a pointing device and the settings menu.
@MaxNiessl4 жыл бұрын
This might be longest comment I've ever received, holy shit! I hope I can answer to everything you said :) Thank you so much for your kindness, sir (and your girlfriend of course)! It feels so great to hear that those videos benefit people like you and that even those funny notes in the tabs get some appreciation... but a toast is next level haha, cheers 🥂 I know Greg from AxeOfCreation for very long and have learned some stuff from his channel back in the day. Really great dude and always enjoying his videos :) My first guitar teacher "introduced" me to TOOL 12 years ago. But I've actually really started to attentively listen to TOOL about 6 years ago and have started to play the songs _correctly_ about a year ago. TOOL is the ultimate musical experience for me and I didn't want to ruin the music for myself by learning everything about it, if that makes sense :D It's almost religious to me and that music got me through so much stuff in my life. Fear Inoculum definitely is one of the best records of the last decade, but I can't make the same connection to it emotionally as with Lateralus and Ænima. I'm not really sure why it's like that for me, but a huge point is that the lyrics in Fear Inoculum don't make me question life as Lateralus and Ænima did. And that's the most important part about TOOL to me. The music is outstanding, though, don't get me wrong here! The songs you mentioned are definitely songs I want to cover in the future :) I hope I can see them live at some point in my life, very jealous here :D Thank you so much for your support and stay awesome 🤘 Edit: The pronunciation is right by the way :D

Unfortunately, I cannot jam along uninterrupted anymore without a fuckin Google ad. But after about 500 of these views belonging to me, I’ve finally nailed it. Haha - it’s been a pleasure jammin with you on this Max. You’ve taught me a lot about Adam’s style. \m/

That’s too bad man. I unfortunately can’t regulate the ads at all because the copyright goes to the artist. Can’t deactivate them and I don’t make money from them. Maybe try an adblocker? :)

Thanks so much, this is amazing! I've been wanting to dig into this one for a while. Need to build up the left hand endurance for this one.
