Nick and Lex , thanks so much for this reaction! I got off work and was so excited to you had uploaded this video. I have been waiting for months for the opportunity to share my love of this band with you to. I have been a die hard fan from the beginning and their music has helped me through some really tough times! I really just wanted to bookend their evolution as band by choosing something off their earlier album , then show off Descending! Its one of many really great tracks off fear innoculum. My wish is that this will ignite you both to dive in to their catalog! Im my opinion , i believe this is not a band you can frequent or only listen to a song a coupe times. Especially their new material. That being said , i feel i may have got this request in too late. Now that you are into other styles of music at the moment! I also understand that this band is not for everyone! Regardless, i loved your reaction! It made my day watching this! Truly truly did!😀 i love this channel and both of you! Thanks for everything! 2022 is gonna be a great year for this channel! 🤘🏿

"Descending" is special. The first Metal song that made me emotional, with tears in my eyes. They are masters in composition. Masters in making music that touches the very soul. I'm not religious or in matters of spirituality or anything like that, but Tool in Lateralus and Fear Inoculum albums, made songs that are a true spiritual journey.

Interesting with the lyrics discussion because as a guitar player myself I get connecting to the music first, but what’s cool about Tool is how you can connect so deeply to the music by itself and then when you add what Maynard is talking about it just takes it all to a higher level. Even if you disagree with his point of view for some reason, he makes his point so beautifully it doesn’t matter whether you agree or not.

Thank you Eric for this match of two songs I was unfamiliar with. Nice choice to pick a early song with late song. It is a great band. I own the albums Lateralus ( Masterpiece) and Ænima. What a unique band. Even with their first songs, they have their own sound. I think Fear Inocolum is right my alley, more contemplative, meditative, but I like some raw songs too. All is good for Tool. I liked what you said there Nick about the harmonizing guitar and not showing of, but always see the philosophy of the sum that is more then the parts. Rock and metal is not my favorite musicgenre but I like Tool. I always ask myself why

I'm familiar enough with Tool, but not these two songs. Very enjoyable indeed. I really like that your channel is "like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." I saw a review of this year's Tool tour, by someone who has never seen them before and his mind was sufficiently blown! 🤯🤯🤯
@rudolfbecker43132 жыл бұрын
I like your comparison with the chocolate box, because that's what Tool is for me ... I like many songs, but there's also a lot of stuff, which doesn't do anything to me ... for example I'm not a big friend of the "interludes" on the albums. My view of this band is even more critical since I don't like the hardcore fans acting as if Tool were gods .... and I didn't like the commercial step of the band, only offering the expensive version of the latest CD. I never bought it and I maybe never will .... and I have heard critical Tool fans say, the new album is boring.... I can't judge, because I don't know it.

If you want something similar try Soen 'Cognitive' . That's there first album, they are very good and developed their own sound more and more over the rest of their albums.
@mvunit32 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna' get flack . . . I enjoy THAT album and Soen MUCH more than Tool, because it has a bit more "difference" as the tracks move along. You can hear a touch of "Opeth" because of their former drummer/and founder of Soen; "Martin Lopez". My fave Tool albums is "Lateralus" and "10,000 Days", and I can enjoy any era of Tool, but I keep wanting more out of them. But I think many people like them because their music puts people in a "meditative" state. They definitely were a huge influence (along with Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Riverside and especially Paradise Lost) for melancholic heavier music. For those that enjoy Tool, and those that need "more" . . . III ~ kzbin.info/aero/PL2DU3TBNutEcnr_Fjq-ZMNeALABnPjz_S 3rd Entrance ~ kzbin.info/aero/PL2DU3TBNutEfs6mwWx_xIRZuJWhL6m2dF \m/
