If you want something emotional again from Tool 10,000 days+ wings for marie (2 part song) is their most emotional song imo, its about maynard grieving over the death of his mother, who suffered an aneurysm and lived for another '10,000 days in the fire'. She was also a devout Christian and even though maynard isnt religious he admires her devotion and how she was the embodiment of god on earth.
@tonysoto89493 жыл бұрын
He actually didn’t get it for many years. He didn’t like his mothers faith with a god that allowed his mother who must have been an amazing woman to suffer like she did and for that long.he has since softened on that because he witnessed first hand how powerful his mothers faith was. But yea Wings for Marie and 10,000 days is another Masterpiece of music and lyrics

As someone who lives with constant depression... this song hurts so good in the first part. The second part of the song helps me let go. When he yells "alive" then that guitar comes in -> that is the theme music to my soul bleeding off the pain and trying desperately to re-kindle the flame inside. I imagine images like a newborn Phoenix rebirth.

I watch a lot of TOOL reactions & this one from Sky is very interesting. At the risk of sounding vulgar, if you isolate Sky's reaction to Parabola it sounds like she is having sex, which is, I think, a very apropos visceral reaction to TOOL music. It is more than just listing with your ears, it gets into your being, into your lizard brain, into your emotions. It is just awesome & this is a great reaction. I commend your Sky for being willing to lye bare your emotions to someone who has been listing to TOOL from their very beginning, it gives me a second chance to hear it for the first time again.

I think that Tool is one of the biggest bands ever because of that. If there's one band that takes you to the deep of your own humanity, it is Tool. You can get emotional with other bands, of course, that's what art is about, but no one takes you where Tool gets you. It's like a brutal and visceral joy for being alive (with all it takes, good, bad and everything in-between) If you ever analyze Vicarious, Lateralus, and others, you'll get what everyone loves about these guys' work. You can, without any chance to mistake, to think it's about lyrics, the voice, the guitar or the bass by itselves. The sound, the music, in its superlative meaning, they produce it's, sometimes, literally overwhelming. I mean, despite all the theory and system of the music, let's pretend that there's no technic or other bulsht, tge sound is amazing and really gets you. We all felt that grace, that thankful feeling in the core of ourselves, in the bones, when first time heard this. It's like first time ever hearing at Bach cello suit n1. There's just a few music in all the history that can achieve this, the arts' final quest.

This song is so powerful. Sadly for me this doesn’t hit as hard as it used to because of the state of the world were in right now. The human race needs to evolve and quickly because it seems that we’re doomed to repeat the past over and over again. Maybe that’s on me because I have a problem on focusing on the negative but it’s kind of hard not to.

Humanity is evolving, slowly. My guess is the human race has been here before and failed , many times really. Probably impossible to exist. Long enough to achieve a higher purpose as a species, weather it be to reach the stars , or rid famine, war, greed , my guess we always experience a extinction level event , from the heavens, or from man, looks like it will be man this go around

Absolutely beautiful song that always makes me tear up. I use it as a reminder when I'm in a dark place. I have lots of ups and downs so I always have my go-to's so I don't spiral out in a bad way. Smoking is a huge help especially to treat my anxiety. I gotta say, I was surprised and even laughed a bit seeing you pull out a bong towards the end! I swear I had seen some of your videos before. Maybe not. But that was unexpected and dope. But maybe take a hit right as the songs transition 😁 Also, to the man that passed away from cancer, I hope you are resting now. I've had to deal with my mom passing last year of it too. Spent last month living with her. Every day next to her until she was sedated and passed a couple days later. The moment her soul left her body was so apparent. I'm not religious or even spiritual like that but if you were to believe in that, that's exactly how I could describe it. Once her life ended, it was over. The body was left behind as she moved into the next dimension, plain, whatever. She desperately was more religious towards the end despite having not believed it anymore years before. But it's normal in people dying. She definitely wasn't ready and she shut down a lot. It was tough because I was hoping for her to be more open and honest but she couldn't. So I did everything to make her comfortable. It's all i could do....the least

Its art, so its personal, but this is what this song (with the original video) means to me. The very short version: There is only one consciousness. It uses us to look at reality. We are frozen 'inside' this body. We see ourselves as 'conscious', as individual persons. Apart from each other. And the universe. But we are not. We are one. Think of yourself, for a moment, as a leaf. One of many. You can see the other leafs. But you cant see the tree. But the tree is there. You consider yourself the leaf. You are, however, the tree. Or see it like this: universal consciousness is like a lake. When you are born: a cup is scooped out of that lake, and frozen into a cube. You are that cube. You think you are seperate from the lake. But thats only an illusion. In actuality: you are part of the lake. When you die: your liquid will be returned to the lake, and mixed with the rest. When someone is born: a scoop of that lake is again frozen. 'you' as concept meaning to be an individual, does not really exist. Where is that 'you': if you zoom into your body, you will find cells. Which cell is running your body. Your brain keeps up this illusion of 'self'. But its just the cells doing their things. And if you zoom in: cells actually dont exist either. They are just buzzing molecules. And guess what. They dont exist either. They are just vibrations. Those vibrations do exist. But where in this all is 'you'? You are part of the background vibration. You are a part this universal consciousness, as seen from inside your body. God is looking at the world thru your eyes. Thru my eyes. Thru the eyes of a dog, cat. Thru a tree. Thru the earth. Thru everything. This is what dmt showed me. And to what I think best aligns with the nordic pagan religion (with Odin and Fenrir and such), but seen in a poëtic way: the forces of nature, on their borders, create 'things'. I think we are Odins eyes. And we are all part of Yggdrasil, the invisible tree of life, of which we can only see its 'leafs' (creatures and plants).

The 'game of life', a small fun program that showed how insanely complex things can easily evolve from a small set of simple rules: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWPZmHx5m7aUrac Resulting in little machines that 'tried to survive', and that are essentially not very different from say a jelly-fish. Floating around, growing. Splitting.

The circle of life... in a full 180 listen to this song from the point of view of a mother giving birth. It works both ways. Somehow we make it through the other side of that childbirth as if the pain was just an illusion...and on the other side we have this life.

There’s a concept in Hinduism called the Maya. Maya originally denoted the magic power with which a god can make human beings believe in what turns out to be an illusion. Some schools teach that human suffering is really just Maya. This song has so many spiritual aspects and ideologies that remind me of Hindu concepts like eternal rebirth, Maya and others. Awesome reaction. Thanks for sharing it.

Little word to the wise… let the music play with as minimal interruptions/pauses as possible… try and save your thoughts for after maybe… vibes, groove, hypnotic type trance, altering your consciousness is kinda where the magic lies with Tool… and their fans are absolutely rabid and will eat you up if they feel you aren’t optimizing your listening journey into the greatest band ever 😉😉 to them, it’s a sin lol… glad you’re enjoying them, they truly are unique and a once in a lifetime band… and if you truly get sucked in, their art will absolutely change your life 👍👍🤘🤘🔥🔥

Hi Sky! I would LOVE for you to react to Wings For Marie & 10 000 Days (Wings for Marie Part 2) 🖤🖤🖤 I believe it is the most beautiful song ever written. Maynard wrote the song after his mother's passing, after she suffered from an illness that left her paralyzed for "10 000 Days". It is absolutely incredibe and I am sure you will love and appreciate it. Peace and much love from your new follower, from Cape Town, South Africa 😊🖤🤘🏻 Rock on lady!
