MJK’s lyrics are always multi-layered. It’s not as literal as you are taking it, it’s more about the cycle of abuse - those that commit these acts were themselves abused, coming-round full circle. The deeper you get into this album, and their catalog, you’ll come to appreciate this song more. Tools songs can take literal years to comprehend but the amazing thing is your own perspective can change as well depending on your life experience. Songs from Tool I listened to 30 years ago hit me differently now. Tools music and lyrics deal with real humanity and our struggles. That said, always be genuine with your reactions, that’s what we’re here for. By the way it’s called the Tool Army.

Totally appropriate reaction. Musically this could be one of Tools most popular but most people have the same feeling because of the lyrics. Enter the genius and avant garde persona of Maynard. Both the Undertow album and even more the Opiate EP showcase his angst, despair and flat out anger. As you listen to the discography you will hear Maynard change as most of us a adults do over the course of time. At this stage of his life Maynard had to get this out…we’re just along for the ride

You should be disturbed. That’s the point and that’s part of their genius. Tapping into uncomfortable shit that you don’t want to think about and still making it listenable. Their music refuses to be background noise that you can just tap your foot to. It demands your attention.

Honestly your reaction to me is so much more genuine then other people that do the same as you. Some songs will not be liked by some and loved by others, that’s what art is all about. The song is very dark but they have come so far in the past 30 years and you are just beginning the trip.

Great reaction. I listened to Prison Sex for years without hearing the lyrics and grasping it fully. Anyway, very few are born monsters. Tool, Maynard have the gift of looking more deeply.

I was very excited to see this song available at Karaoke a few years back, signed right up. It's cathartic for those who can relate. The song was purposely made to create that uncomfortable feeling. This whole album is confronting the dark parts in a person on a tragic and toxic path and how they crawl their way out of it all despite how horrendous their journey has been. Since you're listening to their whole discography, you'll see why they've called themselves Tool. They're a tool for self discovery and growth.

It's _supposed_ to be an uncomfortable song. Tool pull no punches, and MJK sings about subjects few people would address. Not for the shock factor, but because the subject needs some light shed on it.
