Wrong, lol...Tool's like the LAST band to read the lyrics upon your first listen...That's they DON'T INCLUDE their lyrics in their Album booklets. I believe Maynard has been on record saying that you should listen and feel the music before getting into the lyrics
@Joe-bv7io2 жыл бұрын
@@scottkoppinger2595 While I agree it’s best to ‘feel’ the music then ‘understand’ it… With reaction videos people typically give it 1 listen. So while I think you’d agree that’s a travesty, especially when listening to tool, I think they need to have the ability to take in all they can get in that first listen.

@@Joe-bv7io Sure some bands they may only listen to once, but this is Tool, ha, I think it's very rare, especially for people who are musically inclined to just one and done their songs almost ever...Reading the lyrics can detract from the experience, since you're thinking about the meaning of things more than you're feeling the music.

Normal concert, amazing concert because Tool was performing a lot of the Lateralus album but man I'll never forget the vibe that was in the air that night so soon after. Kind of like a deep breath and just feeling like things would get back to normal. Saw the 10,000 Days tour also and they did some touring the year before Fear Inoculum came out. Tool has achieved almost a cult-like status. Before they put out their music on KZbin and I guess Spotify, they had a more limited, but loyal fan base. I'm glad they changed their mind, now so many more can experience their unique sound. Maybe in a few years their music will heal the world, similar to The Wyld Stallions in "Bill & Tedd's Excellent Adventure". Whaddya think?

To be fair, I'm pretty sure they changed their mind fairly quickly after they initially committed to a 4 or 5 album contract that stipulated that none of their music could be sold in digital format. Tool was one of the bands that jumped on the "Napster panic" movement and their contract prevented any of their music from being sold digitally (and also prevented on-demand services from playing their music digitally). You can tell they didn't stick with that attitude for very long because a perfect circle was available on MP3 format from the get-go (so at least from Maynard's perspective, the negative attitude about digital music distribution had quickly changed). The release of Fear Innoculum was actually the final album under that particular contract. With that contract now completed with the release, they were no longer constrained and could go back and release their back log of albums on digital format.

Hello Brad & Lex, I just started watching your reactions and I liked your reaction to this Tool song. For me this song took me on a journey through time, the music was very primitive in the beginning then evolved into more complex and aggressive sounds. Then you bring in the Maynard's words talking about Angels on the side watching "us" monkeys in Eden where there is plenty for all but we divide it in two. Give "us" a thumb and we make a club to beat our brothers down because we want not one but theirs and ours. Then I thought about how our brain evolved the primitive part "base instinct," this is represented in the song as the primitive percussion, then we grew another layer of our brain for more complex reasoning, the music gets more complex but those same monkeys, "us" still fighting over borders that we create to divide in two ours and theirs. The angels are still watching from the sidelines wondering where this is going to. Tool provides the frequency and the words and when we hear their songs we begin to change. As a species we need to ascend. The earth has plenty for all the earth's resources are ours by birth and money was created to divide in two what we need from what they have. We should have a resource based economy, clean air and clean water basic life sustaining things that all of "us" monkeys require not desire.

It's about Angels looking down at humans and seeing how they fight with each other over territory and resources when there is more than enough to go around. Right in two is a reference to the biblical story of King Solomon where two women were claiming to be the mother of the same baby.
