To that special piano player: thank you for taking what Tool has made and adding your own feelings to it. I heard with my heart during the middle section before the powerful ending. Mr. Piano player I used to lay down under our piano as a young boy, a young boy with ADHD and Chronic depression and listen to my mother play the piano...Looking back I know she did that just for me, to help soothe me and calm me and tell me she loved me. Listening to you play, brought me back to that moment 32 years later! Thank you for that....thanks for daring to be creative and put in your own ingredients to a already masterful recipe..you made it better. Epic. Great performance guys! My only gripe is with the "between supposed lovers" part. The change in syllable stress in this arrangement dropped all the impact at the end of the line. Other than that I loved everything (especially the high reverb piano in the bridge and the epic build up in the outro!). I didn't mind the more simplified percussion even as a drummer, because frankly the type of percussion Danny uses in the song would sound extremely busy in an orchestral arrangement. He normally has a lot of space to fill, and there's not a huge call for it here.

Tool must feel so flattered that they covered this, it's an amazing arrangement.

To be honest, I'm not sure Maynard has the capability to be flattered by anything.
@gustafsone7 жыл бұрын
That's true. Maynard has always been kind of a, pardon the pun, tool when it comes to being open minded about stuff like this. I bet the other guys in the band can really appreciate something like this especially Danny Carey. He loves to hear stuff like this because it shows just how much of an impact their music has had on so many people.

It's largely so that the sound of their instruments doesn't block out the other players, as they are very loud. the big blocks in front of them actually are for absorbing sound.

My love for Orchestra music and for Tool all in one! Now where’s the dang sheet music so my daughter and I can play together! 😍😍😍😍

The flutes from 4:00 to 5:30 were so beautiful. It’s perfectly accentuated those low notes and fluttered so cleanly into the next.

Can you imagine how insane the time notation looks like on the sheet music... According to wikipedia, "In one analysis of the song, the song alters meter 47 times"
@katyungodly4 жыл бұрын
ToastingInEpicBread that would be a lot of going back and forth between two different meters which isn’t that hard to read :)

Look I love tool and this would be such an honor to learn but if my conducter was handing out sheet music for a new piece w that many signature changes I'm gonna cry at least a little 😂

I love it when I discover a song that makes me cry, (in a good way).

I'd totally see it in a TV show like "Westworld". Great job! I could get nitpicky about some details but still great.
