If I may give some constructive criticism... I think it's Not Bad, but it all seems very controlled, whereas what makes the RATM performance great is the entirely out of control intensity of it all. If you compare this with the original track, what this orchestral performance needs (apart from more cow bell) is more "RHAAAAAAAAAA!!! MOTHERFFFFF!!!!!!". If that means breaking a few strings on those violins, so be it!
@zab6667 жыл бұрын
kleinebre well, they are classically trained musicians and I thought it was pretty wild for an orchestra. You can't expect them to go out of their comfort zone. Most of them are too scared to even play without their notes in front of them :-P
@VRnamek7 жыл бұрын
yeah, rock made badly played, out of tune and noise part of concert performance. People who stride for perfection have a hard time trying to emulate it. I suggest alcohol and drugs, plus no rehearsal...
@hoot24167 жыл бұрын
zab666 oh what a cliche. It's not about being scared to play without the sheet music. Classical music is much more complex than playing a bunch of power chords. A Mozart Concerto or Beethoven Symphony is infinitely more complex than most, if not all, modern music except for maybe jazz and classical musicians are expected to be perfect. Soloists do typically memorize pieces. Also Professional Classical musicians have to learn a whole lot of music in very little time. It varies program to program. They don't get to play an hour or two of music they've been playing their entire careers with three or four songs from their new album like rock/pop musicians do. Just putting things in perspective for non-classical music people out there.
@zab6667 жыл бұрын
yeah, I agree. It is almost impossible to play long classical pieces without notes when you are a professional musician in an orchestra who plays something new every other week. I have a background in classical music as well and my comment was meant to be funny rather than offensive.....although I have worked with classical musicians that still would make themselves sheet music even if it is only 4 bars of the same 5 notes in just the chorus parts. Habits I guess ;-)
@hoot24167 жыл бұрын
zab666 I apologize then for getting on you like that, then. As a hobbyist classical musician one of my pet peeves is non-classical musicians disparaging classical musicians for needing to read sheet music, and I have encountered some that were actually serious about it.

Nice try, but they don't seem to understand the need for intense staccato, especially the opening piano. Too smoothly performed. Feels like the edges were sanded off! Are they all on Valium? Still, it's nice to see an orchestra having fun with killer songs like this!
@datfellow250210 жыл бұрын
I agree. It's awesome and I definitely couldn't play any of those instruments, but as a consumer I would not buy or even probably casually listen to the song because it's just not rage like. Too smooth and happy.
@jaysean95896 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of reverb on everything, isn't there? I only hear the intense edges really in the buildups to the chorus and it's probably thanks to the high brass.
