The fact that 4 such unique musicians coincidentally found each other, and (sometimes sooner than later) decided to create such pure art, never giving a single shit about what anyone would pay money to hear or have it played on the radio 10 times in a day, chopped into digestible 2-3 minute snacks, is indescribable to me. Each one of them so creative and unique at their craft, Danny Carey with those insane rythms and tribal sounds, Adam Jones with the crazy effects and different string-pulling techniques, as in the Jambi intro, Justin Chancellor also using some awesome effects and pedals, and just over all amazing basslines (Reflection, Schism, H., Jambi...), harmonizing so amazingly with the Guitar of Adam Jones, to the beats of the absolute Monster that Carey is, topped of with a voice that can sing you into a high with some ancient fckn singing, like in Parabol, and screams that wake you up from the Dead (The Grudge, H., Tick & Leeches, Third Eye.....). And then they converted all of that shit into Music, where basically every track is a trip, just taking you along for a ride, building and building until it explodes and jizzes into a musical climax thats just so one of a kind. Nothing comes even close, i'm gonna go pry open my third eye now.

I think a lot of that “different” feel Tool has is because of how they compose songs. They use a lot of weird time signatures and more unique song structures. They also let every instrument be heard, and they do a great job of working together as a band. Maynard also comes up with some cool vocal melodies that blend right in with the song, almost like he’s another instrument.
@leafsfan17286 жыл бұрын
Bubbles The Monkey Good explanation! 👌👍
@awdman62146 жыл бұрын
Bubbles The Monkey tool makes use of the Fibonacci sequence. I believe that's the reason they resonate so well.
@bubblesthemonkey66156 жыл бұрын
awd man The Fibonacci sequence is only the basis for one of their songs, Lateralus, but you’re right, they do incorporate a lot of mathematical concepts into their songs. For instance, on “Triad” a lot of the rhythms and time signatures revolve around the number three, and there are also only three instruments used as Maynard doesn’t sing.
@awdman62146 жыл бұрын

Been a fan since 93 when I first heard sober. I still discover new things (visions, revelations, emotions) every single time I listen to this band. Tool transends music, the one thing I feel about this band that I've never felt from anyone else, no matter the genre, is that I can feel so much intellect, emotion, spirituality in the presentation of every chord of the instruments to every note of Maynard's voice and I think...Is he this heavily vested, or is he trying to get me this heavily vested? Is he a mad evil genius trying to fuck with my emotions or is he an emotional guy with an ingenious approach....he did say it's not his job to tell you how to feel...the music will.

You know what makes TOOL so great, so unique? Maynard has a voice that is more than vocals. His voice is truly an instrument. So instead of someone singing lyrics of a song he is playing an instrument. That and he is a lyrical genius. Poetry set to really good ( also unique ) music. A lot of meaning and heart. Songs are so much better when the singer truly feels what they are singing when it not just some lyrics or a story but instead an experience shared with the listener.

I think you might like Chevelle as well. Some of their stuff reminds me of Tool.

"They make you feel some type of way". Couldn't have said it better. So damn true about this band.

I am not sure how I stumbled across your channel, but I love watching ppl discover tool. Weither your into hip hop, r&b or country etc. Tool always officers a very unique style and sound. Not to sound corny by it's like foreplay for your ears..

Tool - Parabola. My favorite Tool song! It just takes you to another dimension. Who's with me?

You have to listen to The Grudge

If u see these guys in concert , u most likely wont see the singer ( Maynard James Keenan) . He sings from the back of the stage... mostly in the dark. In the early days , he sang front man... but he recently hes hidden in the back of the band, in the dark. Sometimes wearing riot gear

Tool-Schism ... their best song imo

Another great video. You should react to a lyric video of stinkfist by Tool. Over 20 year old song and it sounds amazing. Be fun to see if you can catch the message of the song. Cheers brother.

If you really like tool, then you have to hear the Chicago band Chevelle. The songs send the pain below(suffocating), closure, red, and fight

Yes sir! Now, Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned!
@lottt866 жыл бұрын
No. I think he should wait for this one. It isn't for everyone. I'd go with The Grudge, Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Stinkfist, Vicarious, or Jambi next. Can't go wrong with any of those.
@jasonmagistro10536 жыл бұрын
Trevor Lott eh, idk. He’s in a 10,000 Days kick. Honestly, if he really wants to kick it up a notch. Listen to studio Pushit and then follow it up with Salival Pushit. Now that would be a fun review to watch

Trevor Lott I do agree though, that maybe Rosetta is a bit much right now lol

The thing about Tool is you can’t REALLY describe what you feel when you listen to their music. You just know it’s damn good and you want more. The truly are a special kind of band.
