If the alarm has the option to connect 4 cables (live, neutral, cpc and signal) should it have its own rcd?

Will the smoke detectors in an apartment be connected to the control penal of the building?

Would connecting to the existing 6A lighting circuit avoid the 'new circuit' situation and only require a MW cert?

It would yes, but always better on its own circuit if you can

@@toolboxtalking - fair comment. Using the existing circuit loop prevents someone turning of the breaker due to nuisance alarm (as in 'tenants') as they would have no lighting.👍
