You can take cover off electric brake and spin it back with torx. This way you do not need a diag tool.

Lots of good tricks. Always learn something from your videos. Keep the Tundra videos coming! I'm very lucky you own a Tundra. So nice that you don't live in the land of rust. They actually dump giant piles of salt at intersections here when it snows, long after the snow is gone, still piles of salt.......

Thanks! More Tundra stuff is on the way, Mrs. S. will make sure of it. She’s never going to sell that Tundra, she loves it.

I always reuse the original brakes hardware when possible, everybody ask me why? That's because most of the aftermarket pads hardware's are trash, they use very cheap stainless steels that will rust in no time.
@ToolDemos8 ай бұрын
I hope Akebono hardware is better.
@mr2cqql8 ай бұрын
I always choose only factory or Akebono and Advics, however the Akebono hardware still doesnt match the quality of oem toyota's and honda's.@@ToolDemos

Why not replace the old ones with OEM abutment clips? They can't be that expensive. After all, we're talking brakes here.

@@armchairtin-kicker503 Most of the time, the original hardware will outlast its car lifetime.

Excellent job! Very thorough. Do you plan on doing a video on your new lift? I'm getting tired of the floor jack and jack stands and the "calisthenics" that goes along with it. I have a two car garage at my disposal and am considering one of these types of lifts. Unfortunately the water table on the property is quite high so I don't think I will be able to sink the lift in the floor. I'll probably have to go with a surface type lift. Can your lift be bolted to the surface of the floor?
@ToolDemos8 ай бұрын
Thanks 🍻 As far as the lift goes, yes, I will do a video on it from installing it to using it. There is one can be bolted to the floor, that version comes with ramps. This one is basically the same but doesn’t come with ramps.

My husband usually does our breaks but he is saying with the new van 2019 Honda odyssey that he can’t do it because it needs to be in service mode? Is that a thing?
@ToolDemos6 ай бұрын
Yes, the parking brakes in the rear have to be put in service mode. Easy enough if you have a scanner that has that capability. I show it in this video.

You can do it manually by taking off the motor cover of the electric brake and there is a torx screw you can spin motor my hand to right all the way. Then put the cover back on and then compress your piston. No scan tool needed.
@JCiprian12 ай бұрын
yep. Did this with our 2018 Honda odyssey. You can also search Honda CR-V rear brake pad replacement video. Guy shows how to do it using torx.

Good video steve, i dont work on newer Honda's often mostly just Toyota, but do u know if the rear brakes is the same process for a manual trans civic type r? My buddy said he did his friends rear brakes and now the rear parking brakes wont disengage, told him id look at it this week but i have a feeling hes gonna need new calipers or at least the caliper motors.
@ToolDemos8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I wonder if he forced the pistons back just enough, and now the thicker pads are just clamping the rotor. Hopefully all you need to do is reset the parking brake with a scanner.

great vid, that brake setup is the same for the Ridgeline. I always have problems with those springs. the Rear breaks on a 2019 ridgeline are not electronic thank god, I hate electronic e Brakes

Lol it took me a few minutes just to find the brake switch on the dash.

So, you can not service the rear brakes without a scanner?
@ToolDemos4 ай бұрын
Some cars have a way to do it within the menu system on the dash. Not sure about this one.
