Turning back the clock to watch some of your older videos. What a good way to start off 2023 early 👍😜

You have a beautiful shaper. I absolutely love it.

Your shaper works so smooth, mine is terrible. Have to crank across with the table with both hands. Because of you i will take my G&E 20" shaper apart. I am jealous of your machine. My clapper box has always been set wrong but now because of your great info i will do it correct. You made the light in my brain light up. THANK YOU, THANK YOU

@@Rustinox yes it is but I also have an Axelson 18” lathe so it’s a good Match for it. Good videos you do! Good thing is a shaper is a shaper and they all work the same so what you show me applies! Thanks

G’day Rusti thanks for running the Shaper at proper speed, others always looked too slow. Nice project. Cheers Peter
@Rustinox5 жыл бұрын
Shapers are designed to run at proper speeds. If running to slow the operator risks to fall asleep.
@andrewdolinskiatcarpathian2 жыл бұрын
If anyone doubts the value of high speed tool steel only needs to watch your shaper perform. Incredible. Your tool holder is such an elegant design. Why were they blind to the need for rigidity at the “shaper factory” when they designed their own ridiculous tool holder? 🥴

I don't know. Stupid designs are still not out of this world.

Fantastic tool support. I'd of just used another tool bit behind, always been in a rush. Great video...…......Tony

While putting shims behind the tool, sometimes you need three hands. This self hanging thing is a good solution.

Thanks for the video, very informative for this shaper rookie. I'd sure like to see a closer view of the plate on the side of your machine showing the speed/feed chart. It looked pretty slick and I have not seen one in all my books on machining... Its in your video at 4:07 left side view.
@Rustinox4 жыл бұрын
In this video at 01:15 you can see the plate. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWbWg2BpqZhomZI It only shows the cutting speed for some given stroke length.

Would you consider cutting in the circular protrusion on the back of the new tool support ? If it is not allowed to contact the back face of the recess, it can come close. It would stiffen the lot and stop the support falling out so easily..?
@Rustinox4 ай бұрын
I left it as is, so I can adjust the bottom stickout. But your idea could work very well too.
@EitriBrokkr11 ай бұрын
Would be interesting to know if there is any pros/cons of having the cutting tip forward from the axis of the clap box pivot. Versus almost directly under it
@Rustinox11 ай бұрын
It doesn't change much. Only a bit the bouncing on the back stroke.

Thanks Rusty I appreciate the videos. Messing with my Atlas 7B and practicing tool grinds. Dose your shape have a tool lifter? it looks like the clapper swings up quite far.
@Rustinox4 жыл бұрын
This shaper was indeed equipped with a tool lifter, but i took it off because it never worked. Now the clapper is lifting itself by inercia.
