As always, I am grateful for your diligence and for the fact that you would take the time to talk about tools that are available. Since I am one of those guys who finds such fine tooling to be difficult, I probably will continue to just do some simple adjustments with seems or with polishing grit on nibs or cloth/polish on bodies. Nevertheless, I admire your dedication, and I truly favor your nib checks before shipping. Best wishes in your “Venture.”

Thank you Keith, i try to showcase always the things ive learned and what tools i manage to put in my line up and use in order to get nibs to write the way i like :D I really think that is the most important step for a retailer to make sure that the relationship in between the end user of a fountain pen and the brand of a fountain pen is the best - check the nib / adjust it if its needed / if its that bad... send it back to the manufacturer and dont let the disappointment to escalate from the customer to the brand :D

@@pen.venture You know, I have really posted a lot of bad comments about Stipula. I wish I had purchased the pen from you. After breaking all the rules (when the vendor was not encouraging about sending it back, I just put the pen away for a year and didn’t use it) by finally trying out some nib tuning techniques I had learned watching various KZbin videos, all of which strongly encouraged not trying them on more expensive pens until you had practiced a lot, I FIN?ALLY GOT THE PEN TO THE POINT OF WORKING. It is far from my favorite, but i try to use it every few weeks (with a full fill). You may have been the one who said something about a Stipula nib being friction fit and easy to pull out. That tip allowed me to more effectively use the brass piece to slightly open up the pen. Its titanium nib is a little better; still la nail! It is probably I just one of those issues that arise once in the manufacturers run of titanium nibs (a hint to me from Dan Smith, a nib tuner I also shipped the pen to. His comment, “Titanium nibs are wonderful except when they are not!”). I will take you hint and quit blaming this on Stipula! That was unfair of me. I do follow a practice of not publishing the name of the vendor. I just do not order from them any more. THANKS AGAIN. [By the way, I will order again from you. I simply spent too much last year, and I have had a lot of house repairs. I had to back off for awhile! :)

It's great that you offer the service to check nibs, but it's crazy that you have to make adjustements 95% of the time - especially for the more expensive pens you sell, you'd believe at that price point they would write perfectly right out of the box! (Excepted Viscontis, we all know Viscontis don't write out of the box, it's almost a feature)
@pen.venture3 жыл бұрын
well 95% of the write out of the box - but not to my standard - thats why, being a perfectionist i always tinker with them, just to feel that they are having that small edge. You'll be socked to see that the consistency of visconti is far better than most others. The new 18K nib i can say that ive sold and tested over 20 25 pens... none had any problems, none needed severe adjustments...

@@pen.venture that is great news! I have 2 of their palladium nibs and both required serious work from a nib specialist before I could use them :( It's great that they have improved their quality control, then!
