Was at the DC Super Show and acquired the Carbon Fiber Titan. Collecting for over 30 years I have pretty much have/had/sold most grail pens. Roy & Leah had their Fifty 4T booth right next to Ben Walsh’s Gravitas booth. It was great to be able to try out both Ben’s Kakari FS and the Fifty 4T Titan. They were both so impressive engineering-wise, nib smoothness and customized appearance that I ended up getting both (with special Super Show pricing). In the last 4 months I have heavily used both pens at my office writing letters, memos and signing documents. Both pens provides outstanding writing experiences however If I was forced to choose between the two the Titan with the size 8 nib is my preference.. My cursive handwriting is a product of strict Catholic elementary school nuns…LOL! The Titan is definitely a writing instrument to consider if you are searching for a well engineered example of the best our pen community has to offer. As it was very evident that Ben and Roy share a friendship I’m looking forward to possibly a collaborative effort in the future…:). Irish Eyes are certainly smiling on the offerings from both of these talented creators of fine writing instruments! 🍀

Emy, I have just received my Fifty4T Carbon. I am amazed by how nice it is to hold, write with and admire as a fountain pen of exceptional quality. I have been fortunate in owning most of the grails and this pen, along with is #8 steel nib to out perform the established grails (ie CONID Kingsize, M1000, MB149, Pilot 845, KOP and Homo Sapiens). I am overjoyed by the fact that Mr Roy Anderson chose to devote his talents to designing and manufacturing such a treasure. (Hadi)

Hello, any chance this takes a Bock #8? Thanks
@pen.venture11 күн бұрын
hmmm there is a slim chance it will - the threads on a bock 8 nib unit are threaded to 10.5x0.5, Fifty4T are threaded to 9.5x0.5 - if it fits is just by chance because sometimes the bock units are a little off (thinner or chunkier in girth) - I did tried the nib unit from one of my conid pens and it worked, this may be completely different on your side - even so I think a nib can be put in the Titan housing and the ebonite feeder can be heat set to the nib inserted and voila ...

@pen.venture12 күн бұрын
We dive into that as well - I’m not sure of any of the mentioned fact about acrylic vs Ultem because I never had an acrylic pen cracking, scratching maybe not noticeable and as cleaning goes - the use of reliable and predictable inks made it so it wasn’t ever a problem

Why does everyone in the comments have only Serenity Blue and Intense Black? I don't even use them anymore. I use Inspired Blue and Harmonious Green constantly. Nearly all of my pens are vintage flex and these shading inks show off line variation beautifully, are more beautiful generally, have gorgeous sheening, and they clean out much more quickly than the much more saturated Serenity Blue and Intense Black.

@pen.venture it's frustrating that so many people default to using just these two colors. That's what I'm talking about - not that people seem to prefer these colors, but that so few people bother to look at Waterman's other inks. It's not just the people writing comments for this video, either. I've used them both and find them less interesting and harder to clean out than Inspired Blue and Harmonious Green, and ever since I've been using these two colors and showing them to people at pen shows, on my KZbin channel, in my Facebook group and other Facebook groups, and on Instagram over the past several years, I've seen a lot more people using them.

Pilot needs a director of aesthetics. I’d love to buy the pen, but ugly, ugly and ugly. It they at least put silver hardware on the clear version, I might buy that one, but for $330.00 they need to make the pen more visually appealing. If they offered colors like the Custom 74, they’d have a money printing machine….So much for Japanese intelligence. “Le bon sens n’est pas si commun.” Of course, money isn't the most important thing, but looks DO count. That’s how human beings operate. Looks are our chief way to know the world, only a brainwashed, fool would pretend looks aren’t important. If I wanted just a writing experience, I have dollar store roller balls that write as well or BETTER than I30.00 fountain pens and they cost me two for $I.00 ( Before Biden). If I was crazy enough to spend $30.00 on damned french paper, so my $300.00-I,000.00 pen can actually write properly, maybe that wouldn't be the case, but I’m NOT going to do that just to take notes on things that I read. I’d buy a crate of Gel pens and a bunch of cheap paper and write away. My money is waiting for you Pilot. Give me a beautiful pen, and some choices, and not your damned $I0,000 Urushi pens ( which are pretty boring looking). Instead keep the price realistic, and just give me some color, and you’ve got my money. I want this pen. It feels good in the hand, and holds a lot of ink, but $330.00 for a boring black pen, with ugly gold trim. . . I haven't been able to make myself order one.
@pen.venture13 күн бұрын
:D if all would do the same thing - what is the point of collecting. Pilot has a more conservative classic style and line. Far for ugly ... it just calling for a different taste that you ether have or you acquire while collecting and learning about how many of todays pens and their features are rooted into pilot research and patents from a long long time ago.
