I saw a couple videos with the HTP in bare gel. I can't remember the calibers. With no clothing barrier and they did well. This is why testing with clothing is a must. Some bullet designs require the shooter to ask the criminal to disrobe before shooting them.

The 155 gr 40sw htp used to be a premium defensive round that was really popular with law enforcement. I’m pretty sure border patrol carried it for many years and it was known as a real man stopper. But once upon a time you could count on getting around 1250fps from a 4” barrel. It’s a shame they can’t give people what they pay for and load this stuff properly. Even then I’m not sure another 100 fps would have gotten them to expand . I have several boxes of this stuff got it really cheap from a store going out of business. Now I know to just shoot it in the dirt because it’s junk. I’d say the 180s aren’t much better. Either way I appreciate the quality entertainment!

hello my friend, first thing being a reloader over 45years I rarely buy new ammunition. when I bought my 2 Taurus 357mag defenders I bought two boxes of Remington htp 125gr and 158gr to try out. I would have to look up my notes but speed probably 1250 to 1300 fps.the 125gr htp expanded to 1/2in retained 124.4 gr. now I recently did a study on 40sw and 10mm it's disgusting. 10mm so watered down that unless buying buffalo bore, double tap, underwood or from equal companies it's not much more than 40 sw. and just as well off to buy 40 sw than pay those big prices or don't reload. I've been thinking about getting a 40 sw.a lady gave me 1861cases her late husband had .so I guess she made up my mind for me. papa wishing you well 😊

The G.I. .45acp 225gr load from a 5" 1911 vs the 9mm M1152 115gr (Winchester) load from a 4.7" barrel. Great review! Maybe you should send a copy of this video to Remington like you did to Sierra cartridges ( That video performed the same as these cartridges, no expansion yet, they (Sierra cartridges) informed you they would correct the problem ) and maybe Remington may "correct" the lack of expansion issue. After all, Sierra Cartridge to their credit did give you a free box of cartridges with better expanding Sierra bullets that you followed up on by testing the new cartridges which performed much better then the previous Sierra cartridges you tested which "failed" to expand . Maybe Remington will correct this issue...maybe....

😲 The title says it all... 😢 I'm not sure if this performance makes me utterly disgusted or just plain sad. 🤔 Great buyer beware vid! 💥👍💥

Well… more expensive fmj on the shelf. Pud loaded and and terrible design. This is why your videos are so important. Thank you for all you do good sir 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@ToolsandTargets The HST's mouth is more rounded and pointy which is why it can pierce denim without clogging but would more likely go around a coconut. The HTP's mouth is wider and sharper more like a leather hole puncher which is less likely to ricochet. That's why Jerry Cirrillo ended up choosing wad cutters which do it all. Unfortunately those only work well in revolvers.

I went to one of the local gun shops today and found this stuff in .380 for $19. I guess thats why it $19. I dont have a 380 but looked for in 9mm with no luck, maybe "dodged a bullet" on this one.

Remington can get it right for a short barrel 357 Mag but screws the pooch on 40 in normal semi-auto barrel lengths. Guess there's no point in asking for a test in a 3-inch ported barrel out of a Shield.

Remington: "1205 fps (out of a 16" carbine)" 🤣.... I run HSTs in 9mm but I also like the Federal Punch for a "value" HP that still performs well. I just got some .40 and .45 Punch for $10 a box at Rural King on sale!

The stuff sucked. I have a ton of 185gr+P 45 Golden Saber I picked up a decade ago. Police trade in stuff. Shot great at 200yds out of a carbine. Now, looking at that Rem stuff, I am not so sure about it. Yikes. Nice cinematic effects though. Very mood enhancing! 😅 MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family my friend. BE SAFE. HAVE FUN!!!

Remington must be using that 6-inch subcompact barrel for those velocities 😅 HST is still King

Disappointing for sure. Years ago the 165 Golden Sabre was an option I looked at when I picked up my first 40 in the late 90s. I tested it and the Win Silvertip 155 and a Federal HiShok(180?). All 3 had less than consistent performance in a variety of media. The Golden Saber looked great when it performed but typically separated from jacket. I ended up handloading a 155 XTP that always performed. Is it the low velocity or the denim that is the biggest obstacle for performance? Thank you for testing 40.

I guess it's maybe the denim/cloth because of the lower velocity. So a combo of both I would assume. Maybe sprinkled with a little dated bullet design. Seems like the tests I've done with different Golden Sabre calibers had a decent amount of jacket separation too.

I've seen HTP's tested in 9mm and it did the exact same thing. I think I've used them before but it was either .357 or .44 magnum. I'm not a fan of this ammo at all.
