I had seen this review when you first put it out so it was memorable. Was using a 9924DB up a ladder yesterday. What a workout. So I checked for this review again today. Thanks for the great comparison and testing you put it through. Had to agree - a cordless 9924 would be amazing. Surely it will need at least a 40V. I always perceived the ROS to be a true finishing sander, whereas that new one by design seems to be made more for tasks where you want to remove material more quickly. Sort of a middle step between a belt sander (which pretty much puts abrasion above all else) and a finishing sander (which puts surface quality above all else)...Considering that the new one has a much larger sanding plate, it's not suprising that you can stall it. But at least from the looks of your video it seems that you would have to use "unreasonable" force to make it stall. I really like that you can apply force much more evenly and easily with the new one. For larger surfaces, this will be a great addition. And given that it's LXT, the price will be managable, so you can just throw this one in your tool bag without much discussion with your better half :)

When I first started getting serious about sanding I purchased several Rupes sanders (we're talking close to 3 decades ago). The Rupes worked well but shot up plumes of dust. I later got seduced by Festool as we had two young babies and the dust collection promises attracted me .. and the DC worked really well. Festool can be a bit of a drug .. the tools multiply like Tribbles :( Now living rural on the Sunshine Coast I tend to take the sanding outside and and let nature do the DC. I only have one cordless sander and ironically it gets used more than the dozen Festool sanders combined. I also won't bother with the cordless Festool sanders as they are horrendously expensive now and their major selling point of dust collection isn't that compelling if I'm sanding outside. To my knowledge this must be the only reputable brand 1/3 sheet cordless on the market. It's a no brainer!

My Makita 180 has been a disappointment. I loved my Makita 110v orbital sander and decided to try the 18v bo180. In my opinion 180 is not very powerful and I seldom use it… The 1/3 sheet sander might just be ok though. The 110v orbital Makitas dust collection is very good. I really like the DBO (5"). Couldn't notice a faster or better sanding with the 6" corded. In the end of my test, the gear on the BO6050 broke. Luckly I'm a great costumer from them and they applied for warranty repair.

1. I did a review on it a few weeks back. 2. I work it out, it's easy once you know how they do it. With this one I am just not sure whether it will be the 02 or 03 as I think the 02 will be the 1/4 sheet, but it hasn't been released anywhere yet so hard to tell, but it should be the DBO280 in this part of the world. 3. Cheers.

I think I saw a picture of a cordless delta sander somewhere, so the belt sander probably won't be next 😐

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Ah yes, that one. It's that sheet sander where you can clip on a delta 'nose'. I think I saw that and thought that was a delta sander. Makes sense, since Makita doesn't even have a corded delta sander.

Also great video on this tool. Been waiting for a long ass time for makita to drop something sander related. It's been forever with a different choice to sand with.

It annoys me a bit when people talk about a "good looking" tool. If it's well built and does the job without issue then what has its image got to do with it? It's a tool use to perform a job not to look at

Want a “detail sander”? Don’t know if Makita is up to the task - dealing with details.. just kidding, they are great… go teal!

DBO…lxt out of the box, looks like something is missing during assembly… oh never mind, its the battery. This one I would feel disappointed unless I bought it as a kit with battery and an “Ugly Box”. PS Dust extraction… your doing it all wrong… it’s suppose to fit with inside diameter fitted hose, in metric… no wait, that an outside diameter fitted hose in imperial… no wait… 🤔…. Definition of LXT: “ Let’s Xross That…” later… how else would engineering justify DBO381?

Well done on another great video. Be careful about buying Makita. If you have a warranty repair you may waits for months and moths for Makita to fix it. Really poor customer service in Australia at least.

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL I can’t even keep track of everything they announced for Japan, New Zealand and the USA this week. Good luck. Did you see the updated folding torch? There’s an XGT one and an LXT one. Not having a heat gun on LXT has been a thorn in my side since that’s the line I have a dozen batteries for. I really hope they shadow drop it in the US this month, I literally had the Metabo (Steinel) one in my cart when I found out about the Makita.

I have to agree. having worked with plenty of painters here in NL. They all use Festool sanders and they kick ass compared to Makita Sanders. totally worth paying extra in my opinion. I Have alot of makita tools and love them But for sanders I would go with festool
