I purchased the Hikoki 2 months after you did a comparison with it against milwaukee dewalt and the LXT makita.That's how I fond this Channel. I still love it and seeing as the makita xgt version 2 is just a little better I'll stick with what I have.

Great review! I'm going to start referencing your videos for my tool deals. For the Metabo HPT/Hikoki to be old, it still faired well against the Makita. Early on in the testing I could see the Makita had a lot less vibration. Question now is the price! Thanks for your work! I'll start sending some views your way soon!

Love your reviews. All these tools look great, especially the latest Makita and the Hikoki. I have many Hikoki 18v tools and the 36v sidewinder, and as yet have not been able to justify buying the 36v recip or rear-handle saws, which were just on a ridiculous sale here in the US. But I get by with what I have, and still enjoy infrequently using my Makita 15A AVT recip and my Dewalt corded worm drive saws--two of the finest tools I own.

Great review. I've only got the old brushless 18V version and have been happy with it. It's been great for one handed branch cutting and mild steel pipe when making exhausts. This latest 40V version looks a weapon.👍

The lifetime warranty is more like a 10-15 yr warranty _if_ it's a new release that's bound to stick around for a while. If it's an older release like this, you might get 5-7 years out of the warranty (which is still very good, but they're not gonna keep that tool running till you die).

Gotta be a limited lifetime. Not shitting on Hikoki/HiTabo HPV but they’re definitely built to a price point.
@histguy101
@histguy101 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertrada4783a lifetime warranty is better than a 3 year warranty or 5 year warranty, yes? The tools have a different price point in different markets. Only in the US have they dropped the prices and offered the lifetime warranty. I'm assuming it's to break back into a market now dominated by Milwaukee. In the rest of the world, they're more expensive and come with a 3 yr or 5 yr warranty.

Hilti has had the PS50 scanner for several years now - runs on 4xAA. Bosch has one that runs on 12V. Not sure if Makita have increased the power (I think it's a passive sensor, so unlikely) by using an 18V battery or if it's just a gimmick to get people to use LXT. I've done several days with the Hilti and it can be a giant PITA. Throws up lots of false positives and requires several scans of the same area and marking with different coloured chalk before you can be confident. I'm interested to see how the Makita does.

Chainsaws don't like nails and are much more dangerous to use than a reciprocating saw. Grinders throw sparks and if you've ever had a grinder wheel blow up you'll understand why some people use full face shields, not to mention the noise. Carbide reciprocating blades last a long time.
@toolscientist
@toolscientist 2 жыл бұрын
They're good for awkward cuts and you can somewhat flush cut by bending the blade. They can be preferred over angle grinders as they don't spark. Recips aren't great tools, but they get the job done and are fairly versatile. The bimetal blades are fairly cheap. Carbide are expensive but last longer and cut faster.
