Moho Supremacy 🙌 I've been using it for a year now for my videos, and for a newbie animator, it was pretty fun & easy to learn. After Lost Marble acquired it it's only gotten so much better to use too, and I love the new updates they've been bringing in this year. Definitely great for people who want a more affordable and easier way into puppet animation. I can see why people would choose Toon Boom (I'd love to try it out someday), but I still feel like Moho is underrated

As a beta tester for Moho and the person who did the arm rig in this video. I had ToonBoom when it was 3.5. All Toonboom had was a 3d environment with pegs. Harmony was only available to large studios with deep pockets. For those of us who can't draw get Moho. If you can draw Opentoons. If you want to draw and have a crapy rigging system then ToonBoom. The biggest problem I have with Toon Boom is "I do not rent software! " And the full price is insane. Dale

Both have great tools, but Moho is easier - therefore if you are just started I recommend to start from Moho - because Toon Boom takes way more time to learn - but provides lots more tools to create a scene... I use Toon Boom and love every second of it. Moho is great for rigging but that's just it. I've seen some cool stuffs from the program but it still feels limited. Toon Boom Harmony is capable of full-fledged hand drawn animation, cut-out animation and full 3d compositing thanks to its powerful node view. It truly is something else!!! No wonder why most studios are using it to produce animation on TV and streaming services. Even MLP the movie uses Harmony for its 2d threatrical movie a while ago (The Equestria girls movies were animated in Flash) and the results were stunning! The only 2 things I am envious of Moho is the easy IK bone system and proper interpolating vector layers. Deformers can create a similar function in Toon Boom but you cannot stack them with other deformers in the render view, which is a real bummer considering they work fine together in the OpenGL view. But I am creating a new kind of rig system to help rig and animate characters with more ease and fun! Feel free to check it out on my youtube channel

Having used both Toon Boom and Moho on the same animated project I have to say that I prefer Moho. Both have their own learning curve but I find that Moho is better suited for individuals. Harmony is definitely the more feature rich application and it have been the industry standard for years. However I find that it is more gear for studio or team animation projects and you can get bogged down by it's complexity at times. On the other hand Moho has some great tools that get up and going fast with your animation so if you're just starting out it can be a huge benefit.

good comparison pretty sums up my research , moho drawing tools and frame by frame tools are nightmare to work with they really need to put more effort into this , the learning curve for toon boom is very steep because its built for big production pipelines , riggers , animators and compositors all use the same software its very feature rich , I only wish moho had better drawing and frame by frame tools , the only thing you can do in moho is import from 3rd party and rig but it does it well
@inkbetweens6920 Жыл бұрын
I have both. They are both great, BUT I would say as a whole Toonboom is better since you can do a full production in it. Design, animation, compositing can all be done in the one software. Moho can be great for rigged shows, but it doesn't have the end to end capabilities.

I beg to differ. For classic frame by frame animation Moho is a lot more effective without the complex nodes as you have very good control over every single vector point that you can animate individually without redrawing, same with animated mesh, skip all the complex node effects and just slap in a png layer of a blurry shadow, create mesh and you get a very flexible character shadow animated by your manual input/sculpting
