That’s life for ya. I was a freshman in high school when Toonami ended back in 2008. And when I was a senior in high school a month away from graduating, Toonami came back. It seems when Toonami came to an end when I became a teenager entering High School and when I graduated from high school as a young adult it came back on. It’s like you had to say goodbye to your childhood and enter your adulthood.

This is also the exact same year when Kids' WB program block was shutdown on May 17, 2008 and renamed as The CW 4kids program block on May 24, 2008.

Even though I admittedly wasn't into Toonami when I was growing up, I do emphasize for those who mourned that final broadcast as it was announced, which I also remember being exposed to at age twenty, when I was just a year into my college education. Now that I'm revisiting this amazingly restored farewell as my present-day-35-year-old self, all I can say is...man, time has really flown by since then!

Yeah the ghostly record label is owned by Adult Swim I believe which Tycho and Com Truise were signed with at the time. They use to play his music in bumps before this. I remember thats how I got into boards of Canada, Grizzly Bear, and Nujabes back in the late 2000s early 2010s. Have pretty much all his vinyl records when they first dropped

I remember recording this scene on my vhs tape. I was sitting there on my bed feeling sad that toonami was gone. It was a painful night cuz it's one of the programs that I grew attached to. So glad that it's back again!

The TOM that has run Toonami is the same individual but changes to multiple bodies over the years TOM 1 got destroyed by The Intruder and got replaced by TOM 2 TOM 2 got destroyed by Orcelot Rex and got replaced by TOM 3 TOM 3 got replaced by TOM 3.5 during the time of TOM 4's time as host or a little after the April Fools 2012 revival. It is unknown if TOM 3 was destroyed or upgraded, but it is the same TOM TOM 4 got destroyed by The Intruder, but was already replaced as host beforehand. TOM was destroyed during either TOM 3.5 or TOM 5's time as host before the TIE known as The Intruder II. This TOM is the only TOM to not be an upgrade of the previous version, broadcasting from an unamed jungle planet. He is also the TOM that made the final broadcast during Toonami's original run TOM 3.5 replaced TOM 4 as host after Toonami was revived in 2012. Like TOM 3, it is unknown if this version of TOM was destroyed or upgraded, but it is the same TOM as the previous iterations (sans TOM 4) TOM 5 got destroyed by the Forge Commander and got replaced by TOM 6 TOM 6 has been the current host of Toonami since December 2019 There is also a non-canon TOM from Cosmo Samurai. This TOM is a version of TOM 3 that got upgraded after almost dying (he lost all his body parts but was still alive)

And ever since, the status of anime in the US was in a weird place for several years. DBZ moved to Nicktoons with Kai. Naruto moved to Disney XD with Shippuden. Cartoon Network gave us "CN Real". Even Funimation, notably after Dragon Ball went quiet, had more of a pivot to live action mostly with their "Giant Ape" label (they released physical media of movies and shows like Athena: Goddess of War, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, Shin Godzilla, but I think the biggest standout that made the move more surprising to me, was the Canadian urban dark-fantasy, Lost Girl) Then of course. Toonami eventually returns. As does DBZ (Battle of the Gods).
