When I made a snow globe from one of the large snail molds I used a Christmas ball and instead of putting the cap on like you. Did I took and made a small disk of risen? Hardened large enough to go over the hole and put it on. With UV risen to seal it. It worked very well and you could not tell where the whole was. And I did not have to hide a cap like you're doing now.

Yes 👌 or pigment paste, alcohol ink or resin dyes, India Inks 🖊️ 😂 some people even use acrylic paint 😬 I don’t use acrylic paint bc it turns resin into marshmallow stringy stuff if it’s percentage is too much. But yes resins take almost anything to color. Happy Arting 🌹 edit:don’t use the whole tub 🤣 just a scoop or two until you see it’s opaque lol

You shouldn’t use more than 10% colour in any resin pour . Or the resin could become soft and potentially not cure properly. Vista sell black resin dye. And you can buy quick cure polyurethane resin that is black 😀💜

That swirling glitter is so mesmerizing in the clear resin. Love it! The blue color shift is really beautiful too! I discovered a pretty quick way of de-molding large pieces.. I poured both of my large 23oz. Skull molds a few day before Halloween. I was taking them to the sink to de-mold them in some soapy water; when I noticed my silicone oven pad sitting on my counter. I peeled back the teeth, loosened the indent next to them and set them on the oven pad. I was able to peel back the back of the skull mold a section at a time, just folding it over onto itself. The waffle texture on the silicone pad held the piece perfectly still. It took less than a minute to de-mold each one.. completely dry. I was kind of stunned.. honestly.😂 That wasn’t supposed to be that easy. Thanks for another enjoyable video Wendy.❤

I’ve seen Christmas tree baubles used too.. they cut the end off and then seal it with tape and UV resin. I’m not sure if the end even needs cut off if the base is black 🤔 maybe just a piece of acetate & UV to seal it off.

Hi Wendy, I’ve only recently discovered your channel and it’s given me so many ideas really. I’m a wood turner really but I’m heading towards the wood/resin route. Can I ask you about Mica powder, are there different qualities of Mica powder. Obviously resin is very expensive and in the wood products I’d be using a lot, and I don’t want to waste resin by putting a sub standard mica powder in. I’m particularly into the pearl ones. Hope that makes sense and thank you for all the great videos.

Hi Paul 👋👋 I absolutely love turning wood and resin 🥰 and welcome to my little channel 👍💜😀 As for mica powder in resin, the maximum amount you should ever put in is 10% of your resin volume. So although mica is mica, a more densely coloured mica is probably preferred. There are plenty of higher end micas available. And better quality micas mix better also. This is cool! I wonder what would happen if you put a thin layer of resin around the inside of the skull, then fill it with the shaker items then put shaker film at the jaw line, seal with uv resin, then use the black resin at the bottom.

@@Toonpish I have seen other people use uv resin and coat a section at a time so it cures evenly. I think one of them was Sandrarts. She works a lot with uv resin in general. I'm not sure how clear it would be, but it's worth a shot. It would give more room for the shaker pieces to move around, instead of confining it to the bauble.
