Great video, Stayf! Just to clear up a small point of potential confusion: In the transform tool, you had the "Edit path" option enabled, which means that the tool will edit the vector path control points of the layer instead of the layer's position, rotation and scale. That's why when you animated the sun, the new keyframe was added for the "Control Points" property and not the "Position" property (5:06) and why changing the easing curve of the position property had no effect.

Thanks for the explanation. Still figuring out all of the options.

Is there a way to identify if you've made a "traditional" or "keyframe" file after you've made it? Also, I don't see how you can change from keyframe to traditional or vice versa after you've started your jobfile.

There is a Group option in the timeline. Tap the plus sign and make a group. Then drag the layers in the group.

Thanks for the tutorial! I gave it a try and have a question about the keyframes function. Is it only available for the pencil/shape tool? I noticed that the layer icons look different between the third pen tool and the last one. It seems that the keyframe function only works for the last pen tool. Can you confirm if this is correct?
@StayfDraws Жыл бұрын
When I did the keyframes with the shape tool I made a mistake with the tween. On the right upper corner Edith Path was still selected. Then you cannot make a good tween. So if you want ti in between your keyframes turn Edith Path off. Edith Path is for vector shapes. When you draw with the brush tool, most of the time it is a pixel brush. Then the icon in your layers panel looks different. It is the pixels icon. When you select the transform tool on the left. Edit pixels is selected. When you want to keyframe pixel art then you have to turn off Edit pixels.

Hey thanks for the explanation :) Is there a way that the real format of the canvas is showing through the overlapping objects like the water? So I don't loose the feeling what part of the animation will be actually shown to the viewer?
@jukkamantynen21083 ай бұрын
I’m thinking of drawing a character using shapes and manipulating them. Is this a good idea or should I draw it with lines using brushes?
@StayfDraws3 ай бұрын
Try making an animation with shapes and animate the points. Work in different layers for each body part of the character. Otherwise you have too many points to animate on one layer. Then you lose control. When you draw lines with a brush you cannot animate the points. Then you animate frame to frame where each drawing is a new drawing.
@jukkamantynen21083 ай бұрын
@@StayfDraws Thanks for that. It would be nice if the vector brush lines in Toonsquid were like the lines in the Graphic drawing app where they all have smoothing and vector points.

Pixels layers and Vector layers are two different things. ToonSquid automatically makes a new layer if you are using the vector brushes or shapes.
