To me, it is the movie where Craig has his best "Bond look". Everything comes together, hair style, clothing, physique, attitude. It is not my favorite movie, but it isn't the train wreck it is made out to be (in my opinion at least). Glad you enjoy it too. What did your wife think? Tyler

Great Vlog again! Agree on your #1 for sure - I do wear the QoS Harrington mostly (in spring/summer). Like you said I also think it is one of the wardrobe items you can perfectly wear in „the real world“. Disagree on the Y3 (would be #3 on my list) and the SF Levi‘s would definitely switch places with the Armani CR one, imho (it just does not suit me I think). Anyway - thanks for this new episode. Excitement for B25 grows considerably after we have seen the cast and I am sure we will find some great additions to the 007 wardrobe collection in it, too.

Great overview of some of the most iconic looks in the Bond franchise. Looking back, what surprises me the most is the variety. Only the two QOS jackets look somewhat alike, all others really have their own distinct style and look. My personal favorite is the Harrington, a look (chukkas, jeans, polo, harrington) that I "steal" quite often from Bond. Tyler
@TheBondExperience5 жыл бұрын

And James Bond stole that outfit from Steve McQueen. It was one of Steve McQueen’s signature looks. Jany Temime said she copied Steve McQueen for Bond’s look. My favorite jacket is the....Barbour....I struggled to find one in my size and so I ended up trying on a few different Barbour jackets and found one that fit properly. The jacket I wear can be worn with a t-shirt and you will still sweat even on the coldest of days. My second favorite is actually the Faded Navy Cotton Bond Peacoat it is much lighter and therefore no where near as warm...so I tend to wear it in the Spring/Fall.

My go to jacket is a well worn green, NOMEX US Navy flight jacket I received in '02 during my tour as Navigator on the amphibious assault ship USS BATAAN (LHD 5). Not only can I display all the patches I earned on BATAAN (and later USS JOHN F. KENNEDY) but by some miracle it fits me perfectly! Since I'm tall and not particularly broad, I need to wear size large clothing for the length, but they can be a bit droopy around the shoulders. Not this jacket! It fits like it was tailored.

The Skyfall barbour fits perfectly here. You're wearing small I think, and this certainly favours a small figure. For most people, the pits are way too high, chest / shoulders too tight, waist far too baggy, and sleeves way too long. The DC film jacket was tailored perfectly. The lutz is a better alternative for the same look, but with a far better fit without having to alter it. Owned both, kept the Lutz and waxed the hell out of it.

David, this is one of my favourite reviews. I love jackets. I am lucky enough to own the Barbour coat. I had to size down. I own a replica of the Matchless suede jacket, from a company called Wested Leather. I would recommend it. Was £180. I also own the third iteration replica Peacoat from Daniel Love. Love all of them. You probably already know this, but one of the writers on the new Bond film is quite a pro feminist writer, called Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She has written a series called Fleabag. As for my number one favorite Bond Jacket, it only cost me £25, and is a version of the Harrington Jacket. Once again, thanks
@TheBondExperience5 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome!
@ronpruitt38325 жыл бұрын
The owner of Wested Leather died a couple of years ago. He used his existing James Dean jacket, added A2 pockets, and action pleats to create the leather jacket that Harrison Ford wore in Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. I actually have a funny story from several years ago when Peter and I were at Disneyland. It involves the clerk at the Adventure Outpost store trying to sell Peter a Disney replica of the Raiders jacket.
@ronpruitt38323 жыл бұрын
I agree. Wested makes extremely high quality jackets at a reasonable price. I have two of the Wested replicas of the Matchless jacket. They offer two different colors of the suede. The darker color looks more like the jacket does in the film. The lighter color looks more like the Matchless jacket does in real life. The Matchless jacket is a much lighter color than it appears in the film.

It has a very specific temperature range where it is appropriate: Not too cold as the tight fit makes layering with thicker layers uncomfortable, and not too warm as the inter-lining layer in the jacket traps moisture, making it a sweaty mess inside. Unfortunately none of the jackets listed in the video are available anymore and some of them were never available commercially.... 1. The Tom Ford Harrington was never released commercially and was a special run curated for members of the ajb007 forum. As someone who was able to get this jacket during the second small run of the project I'd probably never sell unless someone offered me 10k 😁 2. The Armani jacket is probably the RAREST of all the coats listed in the video. I think the original price was $4,000 and I imagine IF you found someone to sell on it would be EXTREMELY expensive! 3. The Tom Ford Solden jacket is no longer available especially in the screen accurate color and was discontinued in 2017. They did offer it in a Navy and all black version but those run one size smaller than the original color wave. $2000 4. The Barbour To Ki To was offered in limited #'s like the Matchless jacket. You can occasionally find them new on eBay but they're over $1000. Used ones can be had for $550 to $650. They do make a similar version which was called the Commander and that was around $550. 5. The original Matchless jacket was part of a special run limited to 700 units but they are selling a non limited unit but it's $550 more than the original run but it comes in different colors. Keep in mind this jacket has a close fit! 6. Levi's Menlo jacket hasn't been available for a few years and they usually go for $1000 on eBay. I've heard people having issues with the sizing of this jacket 7. The Y3 jacket hasn't been available for over 10 years! They rarely come up for sale and most times they're traded amongst members. I was lucky enough to find one which will be here this week 😁 Original price was $400 new but they sell for closer to $800 if new with tags. Just so you know it is not actually a 'shotgun' at the end of Skyfall it is actually a 500. nitro express double rifle made by Anderson Wheeler here in the UK, I know I'm picking faults but I am a bit of a Gun guy myself and like to educate people. The 500. nitro express is a caliber known for its stopping power and is usually used to hunt big game in Africa such as rhino and elephant (this is now illegal in most places because of the ivory trade but can still be done under very specific circumstances). This is why when Bond shoots the teacups in the movie the tree around it does not explode in splinters, it is also why the shot is that much more impressive as it is a single bullet rather than birdshot or buckshot for example.

The Barbour Jacket (Beacon) looks great, but you need to be of a specific body type to look good in it. Broad shoulders, slim waist, flat belly, and long arms. Otherwise you'd look sloppy in it unless you get it tailored.

I have always had a problem with the choice of the Tom Ford “Harrington” jacket. Like that of any other designer, it is merely a copy of the original iconic British Baracuta G9 jacket that has been made since 1937. James Bond is a British secret agent that lives in and works out of London where they sell the Baracuta. That is the jacket he would wear, not an American designer’s copy of the original. As a matter of fact, simply by searching google for images of the Baracuta, you will find photos of the actor that plays James Bond, Daniel Craig, wearing a Baracuta in his personal life. The Baracuta only became known as a “Harrington” jacket in 1964, when Ryan O’Neal’s character, Rodney Harrington, wore a Baracuta on the tv show Peyton Place. It has been called that ever since. The Baracuta has been worn both in the private life and in movies by Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Tom Cruise, Damien Lewis, Armie Hammer, Jason Stratham, and of course it was the favored jacket of the king of cool, Steve McQueen. I understand movie contracts, but the Tom Ford jacket on James Bond just doesn’t fit. It was a bad choice.

I always found it funny that Bond wears jackets in the most inappropriate climates, he must not sweat. The one jacket I was never able to find is the double breasted jacket in the end of Quantum of Solace.
