Get Shapez.io here (It's $4 USD): bit.ly/shapez-ar
Shapez.io Part 2 - we construct more complicated factories and begin on a SUPER HIGHWAY! Fun game, definitely check it out.
Edited by: Tyler and BenBenRanger ( / benbenranger )
Shapez.io is a minimalist factory building automation game inspired by Factorio! Optimization in its purest form, we must extract shapes from the source, cut them up in different ways, color them, and combine them with other shapes. Starts simple, gets increasingly complex due to the extreme shapes you must create and the infinitely expanding map.

I as a mediocre factorio was rather disappointed when he made his “main highway” thinking to my self just make a main bus man
@venticuiliar9136
@venticuiliar9136 3 жыл бұрын
A main bus isn't really that useful in shapez.io. For the most part, you'll be wanting to make the shapes and color them with local resources, since the production ratios for the machines, extractors, and belts just make it more efficient to do multiple parallel modular factory chunks rather than chaining production lines together for more output, so that you can get full single belts of output from each of them if that makes sense. So instead of having a main bus that has all of your colors and shapes that you draw from whenever you need to make a new kind of shape, you just make a chain of modular factory chunks so that you get a full single belt of your desired shape output directly from the source. Then you just expand that production to produce multiple more single-belt-fulls of final product.

Concept for this game: pipelines. They move items 4x faster than conveyers, but require a 2x1 Pipeline Pump at both ends to connect to conveyers. This would be great for moving items at higher capacity more compactly, but because of the space constraints it wouldn’t replace conveyers within factories.
@outboard_thunder
@outboard_thunder 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you have realised but you can figure out how many extractors you need per belt is by checking their output per second (this also applies to any chain) . If a belt speed is 12 items per second, and an extractor is 2 items per second, 1 belt can support 6 extractors. Hopefully this helps when making new production lines

Honestly, the last shape before free mode took me 4 hours to make the factory for it. It wasn't just functional, it has style. Then again I had no readily available easy shapes to take from. Had to split like 3 different shapes into 4 pieces to get the right amount of everything without lacking anything and not making a massive mess. It was quite the journey, but I'm glad I finished it. Then I had to wait for free mode.

the way that i went about making every shape was that i would make 4 Factories out of every section that i needed, then just line them all up next to eachother > make the simple shapes i need > combine all the simple shapes if i ever needed a color, or especially White, i would just import them in from where ever all 3 colors were closest I have to say the Final shape though resulted in me creating a.... monstrocity of a factory, I ended up making 16 Factories for it out of 1 patch of shapes, and just oh my god i love this game, its so fun putting everything together in the end

Hahah I remember when I thought 3 lanes was big. Over 2000 minutes and 1 million blueprint shapes in, and I’ve been using 8 lanes quite often now. I also made an 8-input/8 output multifunctional balancer.

If you enjoy this game, I'd recommend Factorio and Mindustry. Factorio is basically just this but better, and Mindustry is basically this except tower defence. Also factorio got it's 1.0 release recently so that too

Neato. We are no more than shapes floating woards a shape, floating around shapes, floating through more shapes, floating around a shape, floating around through more shapes. Actually true.

Tyler i would say you keep doing your own thing but if I were to give you any advice it would be that I saw a bottle neck when you first made the super high way where you put two inputs onto one belt and the split them. This would have no change in throughput as the 2 inputs got put onto a singular belts worth of through put and so unless more material was added in later the maximum amount of material on either belt would be that of the weakest link and in this case that singular belt was the weakest link and your throughput would be as much as could move across that belt. The only case where bottle necks are okay is if you have a system which doesn't use the full throughput of a belt like say the painters. The painters do not have the throughput of a belt and so the methods you were using are perfectly fine. Also you can never go overboard with extractors having like 4 of them and then them backing up is perfectly fine so long as you are okay with the amount of shapes you are getting out in the end so say you have enough painters to make a fully compressed belt of shapes that you want and that's exactly what you wanted then you can say that it doesn't matter that the shapes input and color input are backed up. -sincerely A concerned Factorio veteran ps: if you want to be the most efficient you can try and figure out the throughput ratios like lets say the painter paints 1 object every 2 seconds that's a ratio of .5/s and then your extractor extracts 4 object every 2 second that's a ratio of 2/s you can compare these ratios using some easy maths: 2/s=x*.5/s and so x must be equal to 2/.5 or 4 and so you can say that you need 4 painters per extractor in this fictitious scenario. Doing this you probably always want to start from the end saying how many items/s do you want as your output and then mathing out how many of each stage you would need to get said output an always in these sorts of systems if you get fractional answers round up and make sure you keep your non fractional answer into the next stage as if you dont you can run into problems where you assume it stays the same however you can/will be short some resources meaning your output wont be completely compressed.

Also you can make some simple ideas for infinitely expandable setups like working out what is the neatest way to make an array of painters.
